or you can craft the skulls with mob drops + wool instead of being another useless and rare item to clutter up inventories(diamonds, emeralds,hoes, axes)
you can trade with villagers for saddles btw

If it has more of a use than decor then it'll be cool. If it's just straight up decoration then I agree, it's a pretty trivial addition that they wasted time on when they could have added the gosh dayum mod API.
