Minecraft Megathread; yeah its update 1.12 big whoop what about it

Not sure if this is the right place to be lookin', but does anyone have a public Minecraft server up?  My computer's probably not good enough to handle anything public.

I think the BTW incompatibility is intentional, too. The dev is an egotistical jackass.

BTW is incompatible with every mod that's a jar mod and edits base class files.

mods like Redpower, ComputerCraft and other modloader/forge mods are compatible, since they only require placement in your /mods folder. i know this because i was able to use BTW with Redpower and ComputerCraft a while ago.

pretty sure it's also compatible with coremods like NEI and Dynamic Lights

No. They aren't compatible, because they require Forge which FlowerChild purposely made BTW incompatible with. I have no clue how you'd use Redpower with it.

You're right, a lot of the modders are friends, including FlowerChild. FC has an ego big enough to stop a cargo ship, and said that he broke off of Forge to not require dependence on external mods due to "issues." Apparently FC is the only person to think like this, which is what makes me suspicious. Knowing FC's ego, though, I wouldn't be surprised if it was just to spite people or some washed-out dream of monopolizing mods. Even the title of the mod was designed to spite Notch when he added wolves. If he put some effort into it he could easily make BTW compatible with most mods, but he simply chooses not to because of his undeserved level of self-importance.

If you listen to this he explains his position. It's pretty dated - primarily his issue is a personality conflict with Eloraam who was at the time one of the primary maintainers of Forge, and with how she tends to integrate functionality from other mods into Redpower (just better, most of the time)
