Minecraft Megathread; yeah its update 1.12 big whoop what about it

I'm making a minecraft adventure map where the only way to achieve the goal in a level is to gather 8 gold to trade for 1 emerald, which you throw on the pressure plate. How do I prevent people from throwing the gold on the pressure plate?

make a system where you need to pay a gold for a firecharge which you put in a dispenser to destroy a block. You need to do this with 8 different dispensers. When you destroy the block a stream of water will destroy a redstone torch. The redstone torch, when destroyed, will open a piston gate. There are 8 piston gates. Behind the piston gates is where you place the pressure plate.

I found that, but also this looks like it'll work for my current 1.7.3 world to transition it to release versions.

I really dislike anything in FTB that cheaply moves you quickly, for example jetpacks and mystcraft. Jetpacks are really cheap and they also have no durability. Correct me if I'm wrong because I haven't used Mystcraft much, but doesn't it just teleport you to anywhere as long as you crafted together 9 paper or something at that place?

I'm playing on a server with my friends and if I didn't have a jetpack and they did, things would get really annoying.

I would say the portal gun, but that is really expensive to craft since some recent update.
(though it's pretty common to find in dungeons)

Jetpacks require Fuel, which is time-consuming and takes many machines to make. Or, you can craft an electric version that eats up EU.

Mystcraft can only let you travel inter-dimensionally, meaning you can't craft link books everywhere and then just go "now im at my overworld base, now i'm at my overworld mine" Unless you craft a very expensive block (It's got a temp recipe with 1 diamond block surrounded by 8 gold blocks) that allows you to  make them intra-dimensional.

I was at level 30. A creeper was in front of me so I backed up.
I backed up too far apparently and fell into my quarry.

I aimed for the stairs around the edge but it was too late. I had fallen too far.
I die and drop everything.

I go and pick up my stuff and my XP and I'm back down to level 6.

I loving hate this game sometimes.

make it and then put it in front of a wall, then type "tunnel 100" (at diamonds level ~15 or 16)

it's what my friends and i usually do, sometimes i write some remote control/garbage disposal programs for convenience

it's almost never easy from the perspective of someone who hasn't touched lua before, moreso from someone who hasn't even touched programming
