I'd collect them and then use them all up in a monster hunt.

they drop zombie flesh, so and then seeing how gold isnt exactly rare and useful (for most things), i wouldnt see why you would need to farm gold nuggets from them

I find a pigman farm useful since they can sometimes drop enchanted gold swords.

I have universal electricity which requires assloads of leather, and I downloaded a mod that allows you to smelt zombie flesh into leather to speed up the process a bit.

Literally hundreds of pieces of leather are required to build up to a fusion reactor...

Anyways, I just free-range zombie pigmen, which is better than using just zombies. So, with a small chest full of partially broken golden swords, I was wondering if anyone had anything I could do with them? Perhaps a mod that allows you to de-craft tools or something, I don't know...

Just use the gold swords to fight the pigmen, it's a nearly infinite way to recycle.

Gold Nuggets are useful for Glistering Melon, Golden Apples, Golden Carrots, and Firework Stars. Gold Bars are useful for Clocks (which can be mounted), Powered Rails (update includes many minecart improvements), Gold Pressure Plates (for measuring items), and Golden Equipment (perhaps for armoring mobs you want to keep, like a creeper disc machine with a skeleton). Probably the most useful is Gold Blocks, as they can be used for Beacons.
