Author Topic: Minecraft Megathread; yeah its update 1.12 big whoop what about it  (Read 6738070 times)

When has anything ever been "too big" for Minecraft?
All for this.

The edge of the world was broken in the first snapshots, but we reported it and it was fixed.

However, all blocks beyond +/- 30million from origin now act as solid blocks to the player, so you can't go outside it. Even if you use an editor on your location, you'll be stuck because all blocks around you act solid, including air.

The interesting part is the camera isn't restricted by this. It can pass through the ground if you F5 twice and look down at the ground beyond the boundary. This means it still generates ghost chunks as it has since Beta 1.8, so generation wasn't changed as much as suggested. Just tweaked a lot.

New plan: 1.6.4 (yes, four) will be released very shortly, followed by a snapshot. The diff between 1.6.3 and 1.6.4 is extremely minor.

It seems the change is so minor that it'll just be tossed right out to everyone. Probably changed like one line of code to have slightly more information or something.

Edit: 1.6.4 is out. Snapshot 13w38a on the way.

So the only notable 1.6.3/4 differences are fixing generation when converting to 1.7?

Holy stuff.

But the world gen takes 2 big steps back.

It had to be done to make sure structures in 1.6 aren't broken in 1.7. You have to manually visit the chunks, loading them so the game will write the structure data (Because some people can have massive worlds, and re-calculating generation across all saved chunks to find structure data would not end well). Once you do, the structures will work in 1.7.

Holy stuff.

Although I can't get Acid Trip shaders to work. I need a GLSL coder. :c

Eh, more like Minecraft in the Commodore 64 days (80's i think?). 92 is when Doom came out and it looks much better.
