Author Topic: Minecraft Megathread; yeah its update 1.12 big whoop what about it  (Read 6809969 times)

on the official server?
you have to modify the jar files still i think

is there mod managers for a dedicated server that people are using to simplify it all?
(i wanna use dedi server) but im not concerned what mods i use

Forge works well, it adds a mods folder so installing mods is usually just copying and pasting.

how does bukkit work? i thought that was just a pack of mods

Bukkit is basically a server system that makes it easy to install various plugins for fun or utility purposes

Bukkit is an improved minecraft server thing that allows you to add plugins to your server
It's designed for multiplayer, and as a result almost all public multiplayer servers use it.

Am i the only one waiting for mods to be updated?

There are plenty of mods available for 1.7, what do you mean?

Minecraft development stopped at 1.6.4 as far as I'm concerned

2 questions. because im not home yet to test it out myself. i can only remote connect to my vps from my phone and download or moves things around.

(port forwarding isnt an issue, everything is open)
how do i run 2 dedis? have 2 folders for the game, set pref files of each one on diff ports, and just ip:port seperatly? i only have the 1 ip.
this works for blockland, i havnt tried mc yet.

also im using bukkit, and dropped in a dozen or so anti griefing plugins and such. all the pages for them claim they are rdy to go. dont need pref files or any adjusting outside of game.
but how do i adjust them? like do i have to be an op and there is generally a gui or something in the options for them once in game?

What do you mean?

I have absolutely no interest in vanilla Minecraft anymore because it's been out so long that pretty much any feature Mojang finally implements after a month of no content updates has already been done by a modmaker (potentially better, too) and most mods run on 1.6.4

Plus with things like Forge and the Technic Launcher you can install almost any combination of mods you want with no conflicts and make, in my humble opinion, an infinitely more enjoyable Minecraft experience than playing vanilla

At this point Minecraft is more of a base platform for customization to me than an actual game itself

Minecraft is going to embrace this with the Plugin API which allows easier ways to implement custom content via the API.

Think plugin, but mod. It may be much easier to join a server with 'mods' without having to download the mod on your end. I mean seperate from the client and having to install it manually, of course.

Now, if only Jeb can get finished with the Plugin API sometime in the next century..

You don't need that many. GriefPrevention is easy to use and has a bunch of stuff built in

As for adjusting, most plugins have a config file.
