Author Topic: Zombie Survival list  (Read 93962 times)

Some of you friends probably never shot a gun :\ you'd all get blown away that you'd be to scared to pull the trigger again. and really like most of the logical people are saying, where the forget would you get a mini gun, a rocket launcher, grenades or all of that other stuff? How would you carry all, if not most of this stuff? Most of you are illogical idiots who strive for nothing but to be praised or have someone say "lol" to a quote of your post try to be funny or smart so just stop, because it's not working

tl;dr

YOU'RE NOT GORDON FREEMAN, YOU CANNOT CARRY 50 DIFFERENT WEAPONS AND STILL SPRINT LIKE A MOTHER forgetER.

Yeah, I shot a .50 cal before, or atleast that was what it was called.  I agree.

SPAS-12 equals MY ARM HURT.
But I got used to it.

This topic was fun for the first few pages but, now it's just stupid, during a zombie 'invasion' you won't have easy access to Assault Rifles and piles of ammunition. You also can't just walk out your house and get a full marine 'get up'. You'd have to work with what's around you, IRL during a zombie Apocalypse there won't be Shotguns, Snipers, and Assault Rifles spread around cities with pills everywhere. Obtaining a 9mm pistol is somewhat easy, just find the nearest gun retailer, or make an attempt at searching houses for one.

Also, an M4 Carbine is 29 inches, you're not going to be able to shove it in a backpack, or carry it with ease.

Hook it on to the outside, carrot.

You said carrot, you're cool.
'Hooking it' on the outside of the backpack is only going to make things harder. While walking, the rifle would hit your back multiple times, causing back pains. It's also possible that this 'hook' could come undone or break, and the gun would fall off.

Seriously, all of you fail at making a realistic survival list.

I had a small list...
Ammo is still heavy so it doesnt matter
It would matter actually, I can just shoot the zombie while I have more ammo. Also, the Glock 17 is compatible with most magazines.

Machete( with sheath)
Machetes are really, really flimsy. I don't think that you would want to use one.

If I were to take one gun, I would probably take a springless shotgun.

Not if it's a well-crafted one. Mine isn't flimsy at all.

Anyway, the perfect zombie defense weapon is, in-fact, the crowbar. There's a straight end for stabbing, and a curved end for clubbing or tearing. Its wrought iron construction means its already almost unbreakable, so no need to worry about running out weapon, and that also means it has a nice weight to it, not too heavy but nice and easy to swing.

The problem is, I live in Canada, where I have absoloutly no access whatsoever to a gun. I think that guns are a hindrance anyway since any type of intelligent zombie or desperate or insane survivor would hear your gunshot from far off, and know where you are. When your gun runs out of ammo, you would be stuck with a very ineffective melee weapon and you would have traveled half the distance you could have without the gun. Let me say that I also do not have access to conventional weapons like crowbars, and I have no idea where my dad keeps our machette. This is assuming I was alone, however, I do have 3 other family members at my house, so I would likely have survivor partners. If I were to try to survive, here is the list of things I could obtain from my house to survive.

- A melee weapon, some things I could obtain and use easily are: the handles of our shovel, various metal parts of our Bowflex, a knife, or maybe a woodcutting axe.

- First aid, as well as any medicine lying around the house, this could be the difference between life and death.

- Try to fit as many of the items from our disaster box into a backpack, food and water tablets would have first priority, followed by blankets and then other things.

- Our crank-up flashlight.

- Our Megaphone, to signal to other survivors.

- A book. As crazy as this may sound, it could keep me occupied and sane.

- Matches.

- Some books based around survival in the wilderness. Books like the Island Trilogy and My Side of the Mountain.

- My (non motor) scooter. I chose this over my bike because it is smaller and more compact, it might not be as big or as all-terrain-y as my bike, but it's smaller and lighter and could be used as a weapon.

That's all I can think of for now.

You could use any flammable spray combined with a cigarette lighter.

You could use any flammable spray combined with a cigarette lighter.
Watch the video from Dawn of the Dead.
"So I used the molotov today... Didn't do any damage, just made them smell like burning jack daniels... Made me hungry."
Fire could only work if you were using something like a plasma cutter and burned off the head.

Would a fireaxe do much?

You could use any flammable spray combined with a cigarette lighter.

Nobody smokes or uses a cigarette lighter in our household. We have one, I wouldn't be able to find it quickly though. All of the stuff on my list could be obtained within 5 minutes.

Would a fireaxe do much?

Good idea, an axe is a sturdy weapon.

Being as realistic as I can:

On me, I'd always have:
  • A 9MM handgun. (There is one around that I have easy access to, in my house.)
  • A bat.
  • A first-aid kit, and any medical supplies I may find around.
  • Ammo.
  • My Cell Phone (That is, if cell phone towers still worked, I could use it for GPS, news, internet, communication, and even as a flashlight.)
  • A backpack (for storing things I find), which would also contain food, water, and if possible, a sleeping bag.

I would have to go out to find a primary weapon, like a SMG or Shotgun or something, if my 9MM handgun wasn't good enough (or if the zombie population increased and having a pistol wouldn't help very much)

In the place I'm taking shelter, I would always have:
  • A few battery powered lights set up to illuminate the area at night
  • Food, water, and a place to sleep.
  • A lighter and/or some matches to start a fire, to keep warm, cook food, and many other uses.

If I needed to go somewhere outside, I would use my bike to travel, seeing as how it can get up to speeds of 30 MPH, and it wouldn't tire me as much as walking. Plus, it would be a great way to find survivors.

The problem is, I live in Canada, where I have absoloutly no access whatsoever to a gun. I think that guns are a hindrance anyway since any type of intelligent zombie or desperate or insane survivor would hear your gunshot from far off, and know where you are. - A melee weapon, some things I could obtain and use easily are: the handles of our shovel, various metal parts of our Bowflex, a knife, or maybe a woodcutting axe. ok, thats fine

- First aid, as well as any medicine lying around the house, this could be the difference between life and death. true

- Try to fit as many of the items from our disaster box into a backpack, food and water tablets would have first priority, followed by blankets and then other things. i guess that will work. but not very well

- Our crank-up flashlight. lol

- Our Megaphone, to signal to other survivors. the second you yell out in a mega phone, you just alerted an entire block or so full of zombies of your presence. yelling into a megaphone would be the stupist thing in the world to do. its like basicly yellng out IM HERE ZOMBIES COME GET SOME FOOD

- A book. As crazy as this may sound, it could keep me occupied and sane. good idea, keeps you away from the chaos

- Matches. good for fire

- Some books based around survival in the wilderness. Books like the Island Trilogy and My Side of the Mountain. um... ok

- My (non motor) scooter. I chose this over my bike because it is smaller and more compact, it might not be as big or as all-terrain-y as my bike, but it's smaller and lighter and could be used as a weapon. a weapon? no. the bike is better if your in a hilly area
