From what I understand, the thing snot posted is an item you get while idling. If you get it, it deletes all items you've obtained while idling, and if you idle again, it clears your backpack. I don't know how it detects you're idling, but I suggest not idling anymore. D:

I never idled in the first place and i'm thankful that I didnt cheat to get items any faster than those who do not.  In repsonse to the 'item gaining' thing when you idle, I too think it would be quite cool if it were a Dunce Cap or some shameful medal.

I'm sure it looks for ITEMS.TXT or HATS.TXT somewhere on your hard drive and deletes the listed items that aren't deleted duplicates. It would be easy to bypass by rigging it to go "items2.txt" and "hats2.txt" as the primary files, if this is their plan.

I think it looks for the gametype "Idle Fortress 2" which is the gametype that is connected to when you idle. They must have a block on it or something that anything acquired from there is instantly void and you get a cheaters medal.

Because people who cheat to gain valuable items in an online game are stupid. It's much more satisfying when you earn it.
