You obviously don't know Ephi too well.
The answer is going to be "It's done when it's done."
True. You guys may have noticed when something awesome is gonna come out, i can't wait for it. Anyway, ill wait.

I've just implemented some image compression for the add-on images on the RTB Downloads System. This dramatically reduces filesizes by about 80% in most cases which should make for some much faster image loading speeds with no noticeable quality drop.

The RTB server is currently reprocessing all the existing images and compressing them, so that should be done soon!

Aah, image compression...

I've just had the latest copy of the new RTB website design back from the desiger and it looks very cool so far. The layout will be done in about a week at which point I'll be working pretty hard to move ALL the functionality on our current website/forums to this new site. That's going to be a pretty monster task because it involves reprogramming basically everything. The overall result will be that we have a much nicer site that isn't based around those cruddy phpBB forums. There's no completion date for this, but I reckon it'll take up to 6 months to complete. I'll be working on RTB v4 alongside this development.

The good news is I've made sure the accounts you've got registered on the forums can be moved over to the new site (so no re-registering) and the add-ons can be moved too (so no re-submitting). I'll also be looking to develop the new Gallery system I've been talking about for a while - the main hold-up with that was having to work within phpBB which I don't like doing.

Here's some of the new features you can expect to see on the new site:

  • Online storage of your Blockland prefs/controls
  • Online storage of your save files (so that you can load them on any computer with RTB)
  • Gallery System with save file submitting (can also be browsed ingame)
  • Custom-built forum software specific to Blockland users
  • RTB profile system so each BL ID gets a unique profile with details about them
  • Better player/server activity tracking
  • New Blockland Statistics area containing stats on server/map/add-on popularity and other interesting things like players with highest playtimes etc.
  • Public RTB API access

Awesome, hope the programming goes well because the finished product sounds good.

Any details on the layout?

Also, add this:

  • Donationsystem to cover the servercosts

The layout for the forums will be much like most forums, just a lot less cluttered and more information specific to Blockland on them.

We'd only need donations if there was a problem with the funding for our server (which there is not) so no begging for money. :cookieMonster: The designer is probably our biggest cost at the moment, but he does nice work.

Can we have an "Update All" button?

Eventually yeah. I'll be revisiting the Mod Manager interface in v4.2 so I'll take a look then.
