You can drop money, and it'll stay there forever, but when the server restarts, it won't be there anymore.

Diggy this losing exp by changing job professions is becoming more obnoxious than actually useful, considering I understand completely what it is there to do.  But it has caused more issues trying to make money than do your job.  For instance some people don't mind laboring for hours to get 20 exp but honestly lose 3 exp, opps now you don't have enough for the right job cause you choose the wrong profession.  So you change back and lose 3 more exp and now you have to regain it all back then change back lose like 6 more exp if you do it wrong or something.

Looks like Diggy forgot to use Arctic Silver 5. :p

Tru dat

I'd like their to be job category specific experience, but that would be a lot of vars that I'm guessing Diggy doesn't want to deal with.

Picture this.  You are a dishwasher.  You are a dishwasher for 5 years.  You finally go to college and get a professional job as a financial adviser.  Does any of the experience you have about dishwashing help you with your new, professional job?  No.  Maybe a minimal amount of general experience regarding a job environment, but that's it.

This -3 EXP when changing job categories is the best we can do to simulate this difference in job experience without doing job-specific EXP (see below).  And really, it's either this or job-specific EXP, which if you don't like the -3 EXP when changing your job category to something totally unrelated from your previous job, then you would probably loathe the idea of regaining all of the needed EXP to become something else.

The worst case scenario with the current system would be changing your job from a 10 EXP job like Laborer to try and become some other job.  You would lose a grand total of (ready?) 3 EXP in the process.  In this case  you'd need to gain it back to go another step in that category.

The best case scenario would be to have over 32 EXP on a job like Master Thief, and then try to get some other job that has a requirement of 30 EXP.  In this case you would lose, you guessed it, 3 EXP.  Except here you'd still have enough leftover EXP to get to the top of the category, since you only lose 3 exp when changing your job category.  I don't know if you realized that last part or not.

If you didn't, then I was just a total douchebag to you, so I'm sorry.
If you did, then stop complaining because it's really not that bad at all:  As long as you have at least 3, 13, 23, or 33 EXP, it will hardly make a difference in how far you can progress in a new job category, just now you need to regain 3 EXP.

Yeah.  Think, there's what, like 6 job categories?  That means everywhere we do an EXP check, we'd have to re-write it to comply with a job-specific EXP system.  In some cases, this could mean doing an EXP check 6 times if needed.  It's way more work than is actually worth it.  And people would complain about this more than the current 3 EXP loss.  Because with job specific EXP they would, oh no, have to gain EXP in the job category itself rather than going AFK in front of a tree for 4 hours with mousefire on.

And niliscro, when will the server be back up and why was it down? :c

I join the server and I'm murdered 4 times before I decide to run away (still lagging from bricks being loaded)

Joy.

We can't do anything unless you get photographic evidence. Afterall, it says who killed you in chat, so you don't even have to see it happen.

Exp should come back when you change back jobs?

You're a dishwasher for 10 years, then you decide to go study in medecin for 5 years, then you decide medicine's stupid and you go back to dishwashing!!! You still remember where the pots and pans go.

Also, i'll say it again, i've been a civilised civilian since the server started, and I'm still with no exp!!!
WHAT THE *&?% I want my exp to be given to me.

-Carrot

Wait what civilians gain experience for doing nothing?

Yeah, there's totally a bug.
I was a sheriff, 23 EXP, yeah, I'm alright, and I want to change to another job called Secret Agent, I was told that if you change to a job in the same line, you don't Loose EXP,
I now have 17 EXP
