People don't hate Halo "just because", they hate annoying fanboys who worship the game like it's the greatest thing of all time, or ruin online play by playing "elitist prick" and yelling words like "POWN" into the microphone. Dumbed down, maybe. It's as basic as basic can get. Aim, shoot, kill; But I'd like you to try and explain "gimmicky".

the hype over halo is because it is the "good" shooter consoles have waited for. but in comparison its complete crap to PC shooters.
halo is a bandwagon success. console gaming isn't like it use to be back in the 80s; a replacment for arcades. now its what you buy when you cant afford to game on a PC, and are willing to take a drop in quality for it. because the current consoles ARE just cheapy PC's, most games made to port anyways.

halo feels like old school muyltiplayer quake.
find biggest gun you can and hop around with it till you find the other of the 7 players with you.
yawwnnnnnn. kind of a step backwards in gaming.
