Link saved the world from Majora's mask. Link has also saved Hyrule multiple times. In Ocarina of time when Zelda is talking to Link in the courtyard, she mentions Ganondorf would conquer the whole world with the triforce. Things are never too bad because he has never gotten all three pieces of the triforce, things would be much different if Link had not stopped him (like the dark world in lttp?).
