They've been taking down the inventory from time to time for a short time, probably to fix bugs and such

Someone please tell me how to start playing, this is beggining to get absurd. They don't even give any help on starting it.

Start a lan game and get familiar with the controls.
Then join a server and begin playing.

I ment opening the game itself.

Click the Desktop icon if you have it, or right-click the Steam icon in the taskbar and click "Games"

Yes but you see, there is no way to start the game because it is "locked" until I buy it. Yet the event is suppose to make it free.
