gsf is like the only modder here who makes stuff not cause of everyone else being hyped but cause he genuinely wants it to exist

So essentially everybody should silence the bickering and wait till an opinion is inquired by Ghost and at least try to make the bare minimum of effort to be constructive. If there is a rivalry or debate about what the player's eventual appearance should be, a poll NEEDS to be created. A large portion of time has been spent on trying to figure out a silly cosmetic feature that is truly in it's entirety, pointless. To reiterate: What the player looks like should be saved for near the end of development, or at LEAST not this early on. I'm not trying to be rude or ignorant to other's ideas, but most of this information serves little to no purpose and only clutters this thread. Suggestions and inquiries, in my stuffty opinion, should be PMed and taken more seriously.

From what I'm understanding from this project; it seems that it really should call back to it's predecessor (Blockland), but yet in its own right should branch off and actually be it's own independent title, not a sequel. I believe that the core functionality of the game really needs to be the only focus at this point in time. Keep in mind, the early designs and construction of Blockand's functionality are generally set in stone; that's why we are left with a game that is extremely difficult to continue to upgrade with features and optimization. I'm not saying it's impossible to enhance Torque, but it does take a lot of man hours to achieve even the basic implementation of a new renderer. Excuse my tangent, but I see that this project can eventually become something huge. Unity is a very powerful tool, and if used wisely I believe you can satisfy the pre-existing Blockland community along side with newcomers to the project.

Lets get some real ragdoll physics up in here.

brickdoll physics

How so? like conjoined appendages or disconnecting of the body parts violently?

i really like this one, the stud on the head makes it a look a bit awkward imo, and the head seems just a bit big (could just be the angle), i actually think the proportions in tony's post looked fine. i guess it all comes down to how ghost feels about it though.

i'd say trogtor's concept is on the right track, maybe use some references from blockland's v0002 playertype??

I actually adore the original. If the project eventually wants to be a paid product, then legalities come in to play with the LEGO similarities. Besides that, I'd actually totally shoot for the normal legitimate LEGO playertype.

due to the lack of arms in blockland, you kinda had to use your imagination to see whether someone was wearing an actual coat or if someone was wearing a tshirt. lego minifigures usually do that by making the arm two different colors. i thought it'd be neat to have actual sleeves instead

Shrink the hands, like a decent amount. Use an actual minifig for an example. The actual hand width is like 3/4 to almost 1/2 the width of one leg (I don't have one in front of me so I'm going off of memory). I'd scale all 3 dimensions accordingly.

I went ahead and took the liberty of scaling it myself for visual aid purposes only. I'm far from a photoshop expert.

Could brick tessellation be implemented in the future as a toggleable graphics option?
Along side with higher poly count rounded objects?
What about the actual brick textures themselves, would you plan on changing them to something different?

EDIT:
Is there anyway the community can assist/help in the efforts of this projects? There's a lot of dedicated users that I'd imagine would love pitching in.

...and allow us to make change to the game Badspot doesn't seem to care enough to make.

I wouldn't say he doesn't care enough to make changes to the game, most if not all the changes aren't easy to make and quite frankly aren't necessary, especially coming from someone who doesn't owe you anything at all. He just brought the forums back for the sake of the community that still exists, he literally could've just said "forget it" and just left it dead.
