I had used to use Hawkeye for grief protection, but I don't know if it's still being supported.

For editing, I'm guessing world editing? I usually use worldedit to edit things and worldguard for basic protection of certain areas.

There's possibly over 20 plugins, and you'd have to fix the permissions on all of them

why bloat the server is so many of them? what was wrong with the ones there already were?

We already had around 18 plugins to begin with, some of the new ones are just things that keep you interested. There's also a few that were replaced when I looked at the list
