could very well come out friday
It would be extremely silly of them to release the game before the advertised release date. I highly doubt this would happen.

So then what WILL happen on Friday?  An indie dev that's a part of the arg said something about hte possiblilty of a friday release, and there was some code in one of hte games saying "4/15/11 9am=4/19/11 7am" or whatever, what says valve wouldn't release it as a preorder bonus type thing?  Why would it be handicapped?  You'd just be mad probably.  You don't have to advertise an early release treat.

I can't make up a good metaphor to explain how jumping-to-conclusions you're being. It could mean "This day will be just as awesome" or "We're giving it out early at our offices that day" or anything. But release dates are official stuff with the industry. I don't believe they could get away with such a massive secret as an early release date so they can release it that way.

I don't see why everyone's saying "IT WOULD BE STUPID TO DO AN EARLY RELEASE".  Didn't valve already do this type of thing with TF2 for pre-orderers of the orange box?  I don't see why it's so incredibly impossible.  And if nothing big is happening friday, why is there a big arg going on now that has mentioned the date and a specific hour multiple times? Not to mention it had mentioned the EVENT once.

TF2 was part of The Orange Box, then had a separate release, I think. Either way, that's not the same.

The real problem isn't that we think it's something else, it's that you're so loving sure it means one specific thing. What if they were planning to go to a strip club to celebrate launch, and decided to hold it on the 15th instead so they'd have time to sober up for a real launch party?

Gabe + Strip Club
what.

Gabe + Strip Club
what.

:cookieMonster: Come on, it's sooooo obviously what's going on.

Five days, ten hours, and fourteen minutes from Portal 2 from the moment of this post. HELL YEAH.

Once again, they specifically named the release of portal 2.  That would make no sense to say loel launch party/unrelated stuff. Also, when did I say it was going to be released, I'm saying that the end of the arg is likely the portal 2 release, and the dev said specifically that if we did work for it, we could get the early release.

Stop playing stupid and also taking my similes as serious fact. And think about it like this: You'd think all the retailers couldn't keep such a loving secret this long. It's obviously something else. And online-only surprise early launch would piss so many loving people off. It's a stuffstorm they'd avoid, dude.

A stuffstorm they would avoid?  Left4Dead 2, Mann Co. Store, HL2 Episodes, Portal 2 announcement, every css update in history, what do these all have in common?  They were pretty much stuffstorms.

So you're saying they want to piss a ton of people off... Purposefully, 2/3 of their market...

I has question.

Of course if anyone did this, they would be banned, but could people use some haxs or whatever after pre-loading to play?

No, Valve is super intelligent when encrypting.
Besides, Steam won't let you play it without a verification from the servers.

And not all the files are in it anyway.

It's like a closed beta, also we wouldn't get any other things really, stores would get skins, we would get a "beta"
