Author Topic: RuneScape - I'm not skilled enough to brush some dirt off this herb  (Read 802486 times)

I'm bored and want to do something.

Who wants free money?

what did you get last time

I don't remember the items, but I got 20k and spent 35k on items and runes to complete it >.>

meee

If you're being charitable buy me an abyssal whip :V

I can only give 22k every 15 minutes cause of friendry.

88k an hour.

1 mil after about 11 hours. Yum.

I was having an argument (lol) with some people in a clan chat about making money by alching items. Here were the two scenarios that were presented to support each side of the argument (whether you are or are not making a profit). Which one do you think is the proper scenario? I want to hear what your mindsets are involving this concept.

Scenario A:
- You buy 35k worth of materials from the Grand Exchange
- Using Crafting, you spend a bit of time and produce 60k worth of materials
- After buying Nature Runes and alching them, you are left with 50k
- Because 50k is more than 35k, you have made a profit by alching

Scenario B:
- You buy 35k worth of materials from the Grand Exchange
- Using Crafting, you spend a bit of time and produce 60k worth of materials
- You could stop here and sell the materials to get 60k, or you could alch
- After buying Nature Runes and alching them, you are left with 50k
- Since you have gone from 60k to 50k by alching, you are losing money by alching

I personally can't see why one of the sides makes any sense, but there you go. Thoughts?

If you spend 35k and make 50k, it's profit.

If you spend 35k and make 60k, it's profit.

Its just up to you whether you want to train magic by aclhing.

You are making money with Crafting, not Magic.

Humidify god dammit.

Like Corbiere, I have a few goals I've set myself.

F2P Help
-----------
1 - Where is the best fishing spot on f2p (For xp - money not needed)
2 - What is the most profitable/least loss high alchemy item (inc. nats) on f2p
3 - Where can I train attack the best (f2p again)

My goals
------------

Yes...you see what you did there? You just copied my template :/

Ontootherstuff
-------------------
My best methods/places to train skills:

F2p (Only non-members areas shown (except woodcutting))
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Attack, Strength and Defence - Anything in Stronghold of Security.
Ranged - Minotaurs on Level 1 of SoS. Drop iron arrows to restock and there's a safe area.
Prayer - Buy big bones from G.E (Lol...f2p sucks)
Magic - H.L.Alching. May result in huge loss. Superheating steel is 40k loss per 1k casts.
Runecrafting - Earth runes with Explorer's ring and Earth Runecrafting Gloves (FoG)
Crafting - No idea, I just got 50 somehow
Mining - Coal in Level 15 Dg area in Falador mines
Smithing - Falador Furnace, West Varrock Anvil
Fishing - Lumbridge River/Barbarian River (Ironically the same river)
Cooking - Grand Exchange on 1000+ People world - Plenty of fires - TUNA
Firemaking - Grand Exchange - Very close to bank
Woodcutting - Draynor willows on empty world, maples in dg area (daemonheim entry), seers village maples (p2p)

Members Skills
-------------------
Penguin Agility Course - Fun and great xp
Thieving - Ardougne or Relleka (after Fremmenik Trials)
Hunter - Woodland area near Eagles Peak
Herblore - No idea
Farming - Catherby (Do fishing at same time)
Construction - Do oak planks for as long as possible. Higher is too expensive until you cut yourself*
Summoning - Don't train

*If you don't have millions to spend

This is all based on my own experience...I welcome your corrections to my methods of training.

Scenario B:
- STUFF

I personally can't see why one of the sides makes any sense, but there you go. Thoughts?

If they BOTH make the same amount of money and BOTH use alching and crafting, then why is there a difference?

You are making money with Crafting, not Magic.

That's what I was saying. Sure, you're profiting with Crafting, but losing money with Magic.

Runecrafting - Earth runes with Explorer's ring and Earth Runecrafting Gloves (FoG)
Crafting - No idea, I just got 50 somehow
Mining - Coal in Level 15 Dg area in Falador mines
Smithing - Falador Furnace, West Varrock Anvil

Firemaking - Grand Exchange - Very close to bank
Woodcutting - Draynor willows on empty world, maples in dg area (daemonheim entry), seers village maples (p2p)

Only some of those are the efficient ways. Here's the best you can do in F2P for each skill:

Quote
Runecrafting:
Craft Earth Runes, preferably with Explorer's Ring 2+ and/or Earth Runecrafting Gloves from the Fist of Guthix minnigame. Equip nothing but a Tiara and your optional equips. Run from the Varrock East Bank up to the altar, craft, and come out. When you pass by the Musician on your way back, recharge up to 100% energy and keep running. Repeat this cycle - you'll lose no energy per cycle and it's faster than walking and running when you can.

Crafting:
To not lose a load of money, buy cut Emeralds, Gold Bars, and craft them into Emerald Rings in the Al-Kharid furance (walk up to the furance and run back down). You should make a bit of money per ring, and you can do these en masse because members buy them like crazy. I'm not sure of the exact rates, yet but the oldschool Hardleather Bodies route takes a lot of cash, although it might be a bit faster.

Mining:
Any place with 3+ Iron rocks close by. Go into a world with 600+ players and mine the 3 rocks in a pattern; the first will respawn by the time you finish the third and walk back to it. It'll take you about two minutes to get a full inventory, and you can drop them for very fast experience. If you want to bank the ores, do it in the Southeast Varrock Mine, and walk up to the bank and run back down when you have no ores.

Smithing:
Al-Kharid furance is the fastest, so just walk to the furance with your ores and run back with your bars to have infinite run cycles. I've never powersmithed, but technically the fastest way (although costly) is to just pump out the highest type of platebody you can smith. From 30 to 70 I had actually smithed steel bars (which is like 40k+ steel bars LOL) since I wanted to fund the rest of my skills with just one money maker.

Fishing:
Fly fishing up by Barbarian Village is the fastest. Like with Iron, you can drop your fish for even faster experience, or you can use the West Varrock Bank if you want to keep the fish. Use the Musician inbetween to restore run energy as you pass - this is faster than walking. You'll get an average of 58 xp per catch factoring in the Trout to Salmon ratio, so buy feathers accordingly for your goal.

Cooking:
Cook Salmon until 86, then cook Swordfish if you're going for 99 (you won't burn them). Tuna is a bit more difficult to cook (more time spent money making, less time spent cooking, and although the totals are equal it's easier to cook than make money), and Lobsters are just disasterous. Do this in either the Grand Exchange or the Duel Arena banks; the latter takes like two more steps to walk per inventory but it's a one-click bank. If you're too poor to make your own fires, then you can just mooch off people training Firemaking at the Grand Exchange. If you have a low enough level to still burn fish but for some reason want to risk that, then use the Lumbridge Range.

Firemaking:
Grand Exchange or the Duel Arena for the same reasons as Cooking. I prefer Duel Arena because no one ever goes there, so you have less people trying to interfere or annoy you should you be equipped with a cool looking item. Use Maples for training though; it's easier to spend a more time making money and less time burning logs when it comes to Firemaking, especially since the total of those two times is about equal to Willows.

Woodcutting:
The fastest way is to find a secluded area of Willows and just toss the logs everytime you get a full inventory. I like to do this in Rimmington because instead of having to drop all the logs, I can walk a short distance to the General Store, sell all in one click, then drop the coins. If you want money, you're going to have to cut Yews. A silly method to do this is get the Ring of Kinship and the Explorer's Ring, and start of by cabbageporting. There is a Yew tree just north of there and another just west of that one; no one usually goes to those trees compared to the other ones. Use the Kinship when you have a full inventory and walk ten steps north to bank and repeat.

So truce, just from your experience.

What would you say is the best and most efficient way to make money?

Except Runecrafting?

P2P: Farmining TDs (8000k+ per hour)

F2P: Great Orb Project (190k+ per hour)
P2P: Farmining TDs (8000k+ per hour)
1. What is an TD?
2. HOLY stuff 8M/H
3. Tell me what a TD is.

A TD is a Tormented Demon; a level 450 monster with 3260 hitpoints. It can hit up to 269 with Magic and Ranged, as well as hitting up to 189 with Melee. It cannot be poisoned, but Darklight and stabbing attacks have an advantage against the monster. You pretty much need to use Darklight first though because it can break the demon's shield that absorbs 75% of damage. They use protect-from prayers a lot, but are certainly worth killing because they drop Dragon Claws. On average, individual players have been getting one every four hours, and despite that high interval they still sell for over 32m.
