Author Topic: No one says the pledge?  (Read 8826 times)

Yes. Yes they did.

The king was forcing them to go by his religion, so they came to practice their own.
Also a few other reasons.

First of all, all of the reason we pledge allegiance to the flag is because it used to be required that people would have to pledge allegiance to a king.  In our country, the last king we pledged allegiance to was King George.  It is not that you are worshiping the flag, instead it is a sign that we are free and have our liberty to elect our leaders.  If you don't want to say the part about "under God" there is no one with a gun pointing to your head to force you to do it.  Instead, consider the fact that the term "under God" was put into the pledge as  reaction to the Communists in Russia during the cold war, who restricted religous beliefs and freedom of religion.   Also, if you consider the marines who died in Imo Jima trying to raise the flag, saying the pledge is a small way to say thank you to these men.  These men died so we don't have to worship the Emperor of Japan, who would have been our dictator/emperor if we would have lost World War II.   Many millions of men have died for our country in battle defending our flag against our enemies.  Most recenlty, our flag was raised in the rubble of the twin towers after the 911 attacks.  If you get so caught up in trying to make it a religous matter and not consider that it stands for our freedoms (wether you believe in religion or not it doesn't matter it's a group package).  Look at the history of our country and do not defile the flag ever, there has been too much blood spilt for it.

Edit: 1,043,110 soldiers have died protecting our freedom. Countless others have risked their lives, suffered great wounds and their minds for our country.

I never said it either, mostly cause of the "under god" part.

I'm going to public school next year for 9th grade

If they try to force me to say it my mother could rape them up the ass with lawsuits (inb4 thatswhatshesaid)

Seriously im not giving any pledges to a piece of cloth that represents a country of illegal imigrants and ignorant friends
or a pledge to a false omnipotent being

i say it, but skip the under god part

you're incredibly stupid

patriotic or not, there's no need to say it every day. if it's an oath/pledge to show you're patriotic, you'd need to say it once and just simply follow through with it.

at my school, you get lectured by a teacher for not standing up during the pledge

Its kind of Ironic that the reason why you don't have to say the pledge of allegiance to support our flag which is a symbol of our freedom, nation, and our rights we all have is because we live in a country with freedom, rights, equal justice to all etc. Hey we might not support some of the ideals of our goverment but I think we should atleast respect what the ideals of our country are.

lol it was intended for immigrants coming to the US.  Which most of us aren't.

Illegal. If you had the time / money / patience / willingness to make a fuss over small things, you could contact the ACLU and get the school district sued.

I stand and put my hand over my heart but I dont sing it. Noone has since like third grade.

The majority of the reason why people left Europe was because of the fact the King was overtaxing land and they had the option if they had enough money to sail to Virginia.

Also Skelelego is an indignant angsty teenager who has too much of a rebel complex to say a loving pledge. Man up.

I PLEDGE ALLIANCE TO THE UNITED KINGDOM OF AMERICA
AND ALL THE CHAVS THAT WILL STAB ME
AND TO ALL THE HOMELESS PEOPLE WHO WILL DIE
AND TO OUR QUEEN AND OUR BAD TEETH

GOD BLESS AMERENGLAND

you said that the US is a country of illegal immigrants and ignorant friends, and that the pledge of allegiance is to an omnipotent being.

you obviously don't know anything about the country you live in lol
you ignorant friend

we don't get in any actual trouble, they just look down on it and aggressively suggest it. they don't actually force us, but none of us really want to deal with a pissed off teacher so we just do it

I'm Christian, and I think it was a bit contradiction for our country to have religious freedom, and yet mention God in our pledge, currency, etc. when not every one believes in him.

Also, 4000th post.
