too long to read all of it, but first of all I never said it was a wow killer, I said it had potential to be, but of course pretending you can't read makes it a lot easier to argue your case. Then you assume more stuff about me like I think it is more likely to be a wow killer than not. Again you are arguing with a person you made up again. I like MMORPGs, I like classic MMORPGs, I like them to be all about hacking and slashing generic monsters and doing generic dungeons to get powerful gear that will make me better than other players. Everyone here on BL assumes that no one likes MMORPGs with grinding and questing, they are idiots and should never play MMORPGs. Also you guys just generalize them all and use vague descriptions to try to make them all look the same. WoW, LOTRO, Warhammer online, EQ2, EQ1, etc etc all have the same questing system, all have the same leveling system, they all are about getting gear and fighting generic monsters, yet it is the minor details that makes some superior to others. You seem confused on what an MMORPG is, an MMORPG is an MMO that is an RPG, if we get rid of levels and gear and go on a whole new model, we create a new genre. You obviously have never met a true MMORPG fan and you obviously aren't one yourself.
Also from now on can we keep this about people excited about Rift, and everyone that loves WoW and wants to bring WoW into this can go to the WoW thread?
Hoooly stuff. The extent and completeness of your stupidity is mindshattering. Literally, my mind is shattered. The dog is gnawing on one of the pieces.
First of all, you say 'too long to real all of it' and then go on to make counterpoints like you read all of it. Then you say I can't read when you, yourself claim to not have read my statement. Therefore, you are a hypocrite.
Furthermore, your statement that it has potential to be a WoW killer is, basically, what I've been arguing against. I've been saying that, no, it doesn't have that potential, not even a little bit. You don't listen to me, but I guess that makes sense considering that you didn't read what I said (but then you didn't know that I was arguing against that statement, so you couldn't have made a counterpoint!)
"Then you assume more stuff about me like I Think it is more likely to be a wow killer than not."
This statement.
This statement is why we cannot have nice things.
I stated that you had made an assumption that, because there were two sides in this argument, obviously both must have the same probability of being correct (a fallacy). I never said anything about how much you think it is likely to be a WoW killer. I stated that your understanding of probability was seriously flawed. This actually has very little to do with the argument and a lot more to do with "you're stupid"I am arguing with a person I made up, because as I clarified earlier, you are no one by your own logic. Therefore you must either not exist or be a construct of my imagination.
You then go on to talk about how you love MMORPGs that have no inspiration and are basically carbon copies of eachother. This is, again, why I say the genre is uninteresting overall, and why good MMORPGs are rarely produced, if ever.
You then call everyone on BL an idiot, which I'm sure will go over nicely with this BL crowd we have here. On top of which you say that they should never play MMORPGs, which begs the question: Why does this topic exist if no one here should play this game?
You then say that we all generalize and use vague descriptions to make them all look the same.
You just said earlier that you like them all being the same.
You then go on to say how they're all the same.
Yes, it is true, I am not an MMORPG fan. I never said I was. Infact, I said I wasn't. But, I'm not a fan because nothing good has come of the genre except maybe EVE. Not because I dislike the idea. However, I have met MMORPG fans. I don't understand how its relevant, but most of my friends play MMORPGs. Also of note, I particularly hate WoW.
You have this odd notion that an RPG always has to involve levels and gear and all that standard issue bullstuff. You are the one who does not understand what an MMORPG is. More specifically, you do not know what an RPG is. Moreover, this is just evidence of how diluted the genre has become; it has gotten so bad that people like you cannot even discern the difference between an MMORPG and a specific sub-category of MMORPG.
Look at what WoW has done to you. You can no longer tell that there is anything beyond WoW clones in the world of MMORPGs. If there's nothing but clones, and you want it to stay that way(as noted by your insistence on how MMORPGs
have to be a certain way), how will anything ever surpass WoW?
All of these games have the same systems and you try to tote it as a good thing. Variety is the spice of life.
You may say that God's in the details (it's a figure of speech), but I think it's fairly obvious that the devil is in the details (it's a figure of speech). If all the MMORPG builders are making the same exact house, the only way they can screw up is if they do the construction wrong. If they get it right, it will still never be anything greater than that model of house. The only way MMORPGs can become greater is to make new blueprints.
