And how the forget do you think "good" is defined? Art IS a stone wall, there ARE absolute rules, there is room for personal expression and there is room for bending rules but you are absolutely NOT allowed to break them, you can be as stylized and as different as you want it to be but if you don't know what the forget you're doing, if your art isn't based in reality, everything loving falls apart

there absolutely IS a right way to making art, if you had any professional training you would know better than to say something so handicapped

stop pulling stuff out of your ass, you know you're wrong about the airbrush tool so you're trying to deviate off of what I'm saying because you have no further arguments

Are you serious right now? Art IS expression and creativity, its not about having "room" for it. That's what art is about. Art is there to cater to the sentience and consciousness of the human condition. It caters to our feelings. There are only rules where rules need to apply. If you're trying to make realistic art, then yes, there are boundaries limited by what is real. But do you seriously think there have been no famous artists in the past who have deviated from realism to create something new? Art is about creating, not reiterating. People who break the molds and create are the ones who are remembered, they are those who are timeless. Those who build their fame off of what already exists, fade away. They are fads. And you have professional training? Hardly looks like it at all. Your art looks like a fad. Your attitude towards art reflects it quality.

Getting in stuff and having a drama within a week of your return says a lot about your character, maybe you should take another break. I think saying nothing but "your argument is handicapped" warrants you not knowing what the living hell you're talking about. You are the one who is pulling straws.

wouldn't it be cool if honedge had different kind of blades

anyway neat sword
although all of my swords are probably not battle ready but yeah i'd imagine these ones are topheavy

Swollow, your lines are gross, they look like you're unsure if you want a line there or not.
To Blouk: I think you should re-do your art-style. Before you go into smooth shading, you should try cel-shading. I think beginning artists should stick to a monochrome pallet so that the shading is less complex.

I was kind of hoping that there would be like axes, hammers, and bows you could catch...

little bit of criticism? Cause the bodies pretty ok minus the boobiz, but the head has some problems such as its bulkiness and eye placement

imo the only thing blouk needs to do is study some realism, his shading and animal anatomy/ proportions/ etc aren't that good

it was a quick pen sketch without pencil or anything so the lines are meh and the anatomy is kindof silly but thanks for the criticism ;)

Do you mean having just 2 or 3 colors for shading (like darker, regular, and lighter if you do 3), or?

god loving dammit swollow i scrolled down quickly

Not like I ever cell shaded before

that isn't what I was talking about AT ALL

people who got famous for bending the rules got that way because they knew what rules they were bending

you can't deviate from something without knowing what you're deviating from, expressionism is one of the most difficult forms of art because you need to be extensively familiar with what is right to know how you should be forming and contorting it to suit your needs and how the human brain interprets certain things

im sorry for getting upset but it can be infuriating when someone argues against what you're saying because they feel some sort of need to defend the drawing you're giving criticism on even though you're not being rude or mean to the artist in any way whatsoever

I was giving him useful advice and telling him what he did wrong, ive even avoided using him as an example in this debate because it would be rude, while everyone else is saying it looks weird and scary, you should be talking to them, not me

also you're free to criticize me, but my artwork is irrelevant to this argument and I have yet to post anything on this thread that wasn't either old, a simple doodle, or incomplete, and the closest thing to a complete well-thought-out piece is my avatar which I am intentionally exaggerating the lineart on to make it easier to see when it's downscaled

But it simply boils down to the fact that the airbrush tool is what you make of it. Just like any other tool.

while i have no qualms against your work and respect your advice, you are definitely not being very kind about it.

maybe it's not rude, but it's extremely straight forward when you simply tell a person they are wrong for doing something you would not have done the same way.

"maybe you should try", or "i would have", or "how about" all imply "do this differently". but as soon as you use the word "wrong", your delivery becomes much harsher.
