I'm with you a bit on that.  It is really well-drawn, but it's also rather sickeningly cutesy.  I do love adorable characters, but not if they're overdone and/or lacking an element of cool.

Random example: Dixie Kong.  Adorable?  Yes.  Badass?  Also yes.
