If you were given free items or bought everything you didn't have, that's what happens. I'm still hunting through the underground jungles because I'm missing everything from there except the vine whip. Acquiring items is half the fun, get all of the items handed to you and you miss out on half the game.
The only thing I've had handed to me was a Light's Bane and a Mining Helmet when I first started.
I spent a while going up and down a long tunnel to hell getting hellstone and obsidian for molten crap.
After that I did a bunch of dungeons and got ivy whip and some other things, now I just throw dynamite to make deep tunnels down to wherever they're supposed to lead.
