I used Buildaria to make a giant ocean hole then I built the rest.

Edit: How to make mine mobproof? Mobs always take over my mine at night and it's very bright.

Mobs spawn in the light, you have to replace the backround with something other then dirt.
This might not work though because I've never tried it :o

Mobs spawn on tiles with specific walls I do believe.
you should be fine if you use wood.
