!. Is there any use for acorns?
@. Is there a faster way to hunt for mushrooms than to run around the planet?
#. Is the copper shortsword good at all? The wooden sword seems better than it.

!. Try planting them in grassy dirt
@.You could make a farm. http://terrariaonline.com and click on wiki.
#.Shortswords are stuff. Check the damage, hover over the item while in your inventory for info on the item.
