Author Topic: Terraria - 2D Minecraft More focused on RPG/Action, surprise 1.3 :^)  (Read 1495918 times)

are you implying starbound isn't a broken-ass game?  you're about to be roasted medium rare and thrown out.  non-functional ban feature, random chance of crashing upon death, horrible netcode...
to be fair though, this list seems to have not been updated completely for upbeat giraffe yet, as I see some things still about Hunger and coldness in there, meaning theres possibly quite a few fixed bugs in there.

Literally an opinion.

Starbound has no substantial gameplay content beyond the core mechanics, and adding in stupid things like catching bugs and doing useless linear quests doesn't count

imo i'm not even waiting for 1.3 anymore

terraria never had much of a traditional story that starts and ends somewhere. it never really had any story at all. as such, it's pretty much a finished game

sure the additions in 1.3 might be nice but there's little they could do to actually refresh the game. it's a great game, people had fun with it.

b/c you're acting like they do. you're all but stating that they need to make another update ASAP. "it has been 9 months since the last update", "the more content, the better", etc.  plus this gem:
Wow, it's like those are facts!
also what made me crack up wasare you implying starbound isn't a broken-ass game?  you're about to be roasted medium rare and thrown out.  non-functional ban feature, random chance of crashing upon death, horrible netcode...
not to mention the wonky ass game progression and dumb mission balancing.  and some gameplay elements outright missing.  and the incredibly bad optimization.  and the scrollbars not working.

The game is still playable. Some like it, others don't. Simple as that. I have had no trouble with any substantial bugs.

And just so you guys assume less, I prefer terraria over starbound.

Wow, it's like those are facts!

"the more content, the better" is not a fact
what are you even on about?

regardless, you're still acting like they owe you something, which they don't

terraria doesn't have a story because it's a sandbox adventure game. you create your own story and adventure. it's actually a lot better than forcing the player into a quest system. it allows for more freedom

when minecraft added the ender dragon as their "story" i thought it was stupid and redundant. why would you need an end boss to a sandbox game? why only one boss?

when starbound added stuffty "get coffee, catch bugs, make a cup" missions, I stopped playing. I tried the new update and i was really disgusted at how they held your hand through the entire game. I want to play the game and figure out things on my own. if i want a guide I'll go look up a wiki ffs

not every game needs a story to be good. this game is meant to be progressed at the same level as the player. If you're good at the game you'll progress fast, if you're bad you'll complain about how hard the game is and why you're too incompetent to challenge yourself

Its actually interesting being a somewhat experienced Terraria player and playing with people who have never played before. You have people like me who can progress rather quickly through the game and rarely prepares for boss fights, and then you have players who take a very long time to progress and have to make every single potion possible for each boss fight.

But i will say its frustrating playing with people who have barely played the game but have read the wiki so they act as if they know how to play the game.

Honestly the quests should just be a small side thing that doesn't block you from progession

Like, you can do them but all they would give is extra materials, weapons etc. and give better materials with harder quests

"the more content, the better" is not a fact

Nice cherry picking! You got any more logical fallacies to throw around?

And I still haven't said that they owe me anything. If 1.3 never came out, it wouldn't bother me a bit.
But on topic, if they don't change the art style of Otherworld then I probably won't get it. Unless of course it turns out to be really good, then I will just bear with it.

you've ignored large parts of my posts multiple times, and when I point out something you say isn't a fact, you say that's cherry-picking

And I still haven't said that they owe me anything

but you implied it

That's why 1.3 still isn't out yet, right guys?
And they still haven't completed the final update for terraria
You do realize it has been 9 months since the last update, so it isn't just "a few days or months." I'm not saying that they should have finished it in a couple months. The more content, the better

Alright, fine. If it will make you feel better. omg red pls give me 1.3 you owe it to me for buying your game 4 years ago.
Now get over it and get back to the main topic like I tried to do.

Back on topic:

looks like it's just a terraria texture pack, what's going to be so different about this 1

The trailer description says "Set in an alternate dimension within the Terraria universe, Terraria: Otherworld places the player in a life-and-death struggle to restore a once-pristine world – now overrun by a malevolent force that has corrupted nature itself – to its original splendor. Along with a rag-tag band of survivors, will you be able to successfully harness the power of an array of weaponry, magic, defenses, and even the world itself to thwart the designs of this unseen evil?"

So it seems like it's gonna be like Terraria but with an actual story and more linear gameplay

You  know, if they don't try to call it a "open world sandbox with infinite possibilities" and instead actually say ' Hey, it has most of the mechanics of Terraria, but it more linear with a story" Then id be happy. Nothing is worse than a game that claims to be one thing but ended up becoming the complete opposite *cough starbound*cough*

I really dislike the art we've seen in the Terraria: Otherworld trailer. I get they couldn't just keep it the same, but I can't feel that it has lost a lot of its charm.
