what if other players try to destroy the machines? Will the turrets attack them too?

Nothign has been said about PVP and whatever questions belong to that.
It is an interesting question though.
It would be interesting to have players side with the corruption, trying to corrupt all.

On the Terraria forums they posted the trailer and some details and yes, the crystal machines will play a big part in the game.
Players have to find/craft them to force back the corruption in an area around it.
But the corruption will fight back against it by sending monsters to try and destroy it.
However, players can also place things like turrets and stuff that will have to be powered by the crystal machines to defend the crystals.
In fact, the turrets and stuff will be needed as you apparently need to place crystal machines on a couple of places to be able to beat the corruption and thus the defense you build around it will have to be able to take on the mosters on it's own.
am buying on release the hype has been set

I actually like the look of overworld. Hopefully the dev team arent a train wreck.

lol i can already tell this is gonna be better than starbound

It's BEEN better than Starbound for a long time.

You know, I think the main reason I don't play this is because it feels like I'm building with atoms. Trying to build a large house with such small blocks in this is hell.

You do realize he is talking about otherworld, right?

we can probably expect a more polished and finished release than starbound too since relogic actually knows what they're doing

Only thing starbound has on otherworld is starbound has different race where I think terraria is just hoomans

That said, at the moment, different races in starbound just means a different look to your ship/armour/weapons.
Or if you're a novakid you make guns.

There's currently nothing that makes playing as an Apex different from playing as a Hylotl.
So really, they might as well all just be humans for the difference it makes.

Also, Werewolves and Merfolk, since you can change into those via items.

Only thing starbound has on otherworld is starbound has different race (which are birds) where I think terraria is just hoomans
ftfy

yeah because humans are so overrated

though being a plant person in terraria wouldn't be so bad.......................
