that sounds terrible, it just makes the heavy even harder to kill for no discernible reason

what purpose does it serve

Shotgun heavy?

And the damage reduction drops to 20% after a second or so, and heavy would act as if his minigun is spun up when he brings up his shield

And there'd also be a brief cooldown so you couldn't spam M2

This is why the engineer doesn't have a lot of unlocks, anything with pratical use has already been done.

BULLstuff

So here's the shield thing in full

(It's a primary)

When equipped, you can press M2 at any time (unless he's holding a Sandvich) to bring up the shield for about .2 seconds. During this period, you will be invulnerable to any damage from the front and sides, sans headshots. You will also have your move speed reduced to the same speed when deploying the minigun for this short period. Your turn speed will also be reduced. You must wait 4 seconds to bring up the shield again

You can also hold down M2 to bring up the shield indefinitely. However, for ever .1 second it is brought up past the .2 seconds, its damage reduction will drop by 15%, capping at 20%. Again, you must wait 4 seconds to bring it up again.

You can fire and punch while the shield is up, but your firing rate is reduced by 50%

There are plenty of ways you can take down a shield heavy

Flank him
Run around him as a faster class
Shoot behind him with explosive weapons
Rocket/Sticky/FaN/Double jump above him
Headshot him
Backstab
Brute force your way past the damage reduction, I mean, after all, all he has is a shotgun and his hands

Replacing the minigun would suck. But perhaps a secondary would work. Also how much is a strange rocket launcher worth?

No, it's supposed to be a primary

GUYS I LIKE X CLASS, BUT IM BAD AT HIM, SO IM GOING TO MAKE UP A STUPID WEAPON THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE IN TERMS OF BALANCE!

+1000 to damage
+infinity to skill
+swag as long as it's out
-you go 1% slower

IS THIS GOOD IDEA I CALL IT THE 'SWAG MACHINE'

Guys instead of making up dumb guns just practice with your favorite class. Maybe use the first unlock weapons which usually take more skill to use to practice using the stock weapons.

To practice demo-man pill bombs I forced myself to use that 2 shot pill gun and got REALLY good at aiming so now I use the stock for the added ammo.

To practice soldier I forced myself to use the direct hit (which, along with the loch-n-load forget you up because the projectiles go faster) to learn how to aim on the fly. So now I'm getting better at soldier!

TF2 is over-all a VERY balanced game nixing a few weapons (THAT loving ICE SPY WEAPON I AM LOOKING AT YOU) and is heavily based on skill and not WUB WUB 360 NO SCOP GET HEADS ERRY DAY!

Leave the stats to the 'pro's'

I'm sorry, was that directed at me?

No not necessarily you just anyone not really 'made' for making stats for games. You REALLY need lots of experience making these sorts of games to correctly balance a weapon so it's not mind-numbingly annoying to fight against.

tl;dr: you are all idiots who come up with ideas make less creative weapons and let the devs making weapons kthnxbye

I am going to make a game someday with unlockable weapons that are creative and balanced just to piss you off.

AKA a team fortress 2 ripoff.
Creative =/= handicappedly ununderstandable

So anyway

is the shield idea

any good

AKA a team fortress 2 ripoff.

Yes!
I shall place it in the 60s, make 9 classes similar to TF2's, have western-themed maps and call it Group Base!

Creative =/= handicappedly ununderstandable

So a medic healing people is handicapped?
Damn, you're right. I better let the scout do that.

So anyway

is the shield idea
