I usually burn upwards and on a gravity turn until apoapsis gets around 100k meters, then I make a maneuver node for a circular orbit to finish.

i can get to the mun and minmus fine, but anything outside of kerbin's orbit i cannot get to whatsoever

I just noticed that, I got the names of the people mixed up with the planet.

for all those people complaining about being unable to get to other planets: it's essentially inherently designed that you can't escape Kerbal SoI and make any meaningful rendezvous with other bodies WITHOUT USING A DOCKING SYSTEM. please for the love of christ start assembling larger ships in orbit or otherwise it will be nearly impossible to escape Kerbal SoI.

Also, the only planets that usually require some sort of docking system to get to are Eeloo or Moho just because of the horrible amount of fuel needed.
I can easily get to Eve on a 3 stage rocket.
