Can someone tell me where in the ToS it even mentions collecting information?

I searched the ToS for the word collect and none of it mentioned collecting information.

http://tos.ea.com/legalapp/WEBTERMS/US/en/PC/
It did.

Woah wait a second here.

I just opened up the origin installer and it's a different ToS then the one on the website.

That's not cool EA.

It did.

That's right. They recently changed it.

“EA would never sell your personally identifiable information to anyone, nor would it ever use spyware or install spyware on users’ machines. We and agents acting on our behalf do not share information that personally identifies you without your consent, except in rare instances where disclosure is required by law or to enforce EA’s legal rights.”

Ok wait the ToS in Origin says this:

Quote
Sections 1.C and 2 below describe the data EA may collect and use in the course of providing services and support to you in connection with the Application.

Quote
C.   License Validation.    The Application and an internet connection are required to validate the license for certain products distributed by EA.  You acknowledge and agree that the Application can automatically validate license rights for some or all EA products without separate notice to you. This means that in order to use the Application and certain EA products, you must leave the Application installed on your computer.  You acknowledge and agree that the Application may use information regarding your computer, hardware, media, software and your use of the Application to validate your license rights and to update the Application.

Quote
2.  Consent to Collection and Use of Data.

You agree that EA may collect, use, store and transmit technical and related information that identifies your computer (including the Internet Protocol Address), operating system, Application usage (including but not limited to successful installation and/or removal), software, software usage and peripheral hardware, that may be gathered periodically to facilitate the provision of software updates, dynamically served content, product support and other services to you, including online services. EA may also use this information combined with personal information for marketing purposes and to improve our products and services.  We may also share that data with our third party service providers in a form that does not personally identify you.  IF YOU DO NOT WANT EA TO COLLECT, USE, STORE, TRANSMIT OR DISPLAY THE DATA DESCRIBED IN THIS SECTION, PLEASE DO NOT INSTALL OR USE THE APPLICATION.
That's what I don't like :c

Nobody read what I said.

That's right. They recently changed it.

I read that but I want to know exactly what goes on.

Otherwise through use of our software, mobile or online services where personal information is required for use and/or participation.

That's what they consider grounds for collecting personal information.

Information collected will vary depending upon the activity and may include your name, email address, phone number, home address, birth date, mobile phone number and credit card information.
Steam probably has the bolded also.

phone number, home address, mobile phone number.
That all could be for contests only.

So It's not really that bad.  Keeping track of the hours of a game you play ect is good because it can suggest more games that you might like.  Oh wait doesn't steam do this too?

That's what I don't like :c
I hate it when companies try to understand their customers to make better products. I wish all shirt companies would ignore people and just make pink shirts with bunnies.

It was more of the personal information part of that sentence.

Also I'm surprised nobody has brought up the fact that I already agreed to this a long time ago.

They heavily improved it.

No way am I letting EA browse my computer and stumble across my plans to take over the worl-.... marketing industry.

AMAZING user-made trailer, viewing in 720p really makes a big difference

What does the "original" quality mean on youtube? For me all it does is take 30 minutes to load a 1 minute video.

i heard that even a 580 can't max out this game.
