- The cause of the crash has been found. The aircraft had been scheduled for maintenance at Chandelier's airport, and the aircraft was descending when the bolt snapped. The bolt had been suffering from vibration fatigue, and when it snapped, the engine swung up and took a piece of the wing with it. This destroyed the hydraulic lines. The back up hydraulics were destroyed when the aircraft hit a radio tower, leaving the aircraft stuck in a dive. The bolt, under the increased upwards stress of a descent, had snapped. If the aircraft had not been descending , the pilots may have had the chance to at least belly-land the aircraft. Boeing has now ordered all 787 aircraft to be inspected more often.
