Author Topic: Dwarf Fortress Megathread! - Necro'd enough to count as a vampire  (Read 139402 times)

I can't wait to get into this new ☼Update☼. I'm going to become a vampire and see how many times I can jump off a cliff.

Gonna start a fresh game with the new update. Hopefully I can get to the legendary status.

vampires are the new ghosts that cannot be dispersed

ah forget

I should really get back into this game it's just as brilliant as before

They can, with many hammer blows to the head.

When does the update come out, anyone know?

I'd guess within the week unless Toady dies/2012 comes early/some other freak accident happens.

The sponsorship creatures for this release are done! We're getting so close!

The squid/octo ink clouds and cuttlefish sepia ink clouds and a new hide effect finish off the work on sponsorship creatures, at least for this release. We'll add more critter properties in the future as it comes up. We've got crayon art to draw tomorrow, and the usual month endiness.

Alright. *hands you a book as thick as a dictionary*

Here's the book on how you set up a fortress with a stable food and booze supply...
hmm, perhaps a link to a site giving some sort of tutorial (this game needs a built in tutorial btw)

The worst death I've ever seen anyone encounter in this game is when I had this big ice fortress that got abandoned. I went back to reclaim it, and started setting up shop again. One of the dwarves started complaining about something so I checked him over and he had found a Giant Cave Spider that took up residence in the fort before we did.

He was missing both his legs. His lower body was mangled, his spine broken. The loving thing had chewed off his legs. It was the mostly grisly ass thing I had ever seen, and it was in 2D text.

Yeah, giant cave spiders are real bastards. I imagine them as Shelob, so that usually means I kill them as fast as possible when I find them.

Go to the wiki. Play adventure mode to get a feel for the graphics and such. Move on to fortress when ready.

This isn't a good time, Strag!

1: Mages?
2: I'm sad because I can barely recognize anything in that picture. ;-;

Well there is 2 buildings a river smoke lots of blood(?) and some other bullstuff.

1) Wizard Tower
2) The edge of that white building is my "necromancer tower" where the starting 7 and a couple of migrant waves (most of them had died from ghosts from bodies outside) are locked in. The migrants are trapped outside and were building a settlement when several huge elf ambushes attacked. The sorcerers fought back, casting fireballs and whatnot which caused the fire. After a while, the fire consumed that entire z-level and destroyed all the wood (but left the buildings intact) and most everything else. I had 40 or so sorcerers before the ambush. I had 28 after, with 4 of the migrants outside still alive. I'm currently expanding that settlement, waiting for all hell to break loose again.
