Author Topic: Dwarf Fortress Megathread! - Necro'd enough to count as a vampire  (Read 138039 times)

I want to find a way to put this on my 3DS somehow, this would be the ultimate train or plane game.
A 3DS wouldn't be able to run it.

HEY IS THERE A BEGINNER GUIDE FOR adventure mode?
Adventure doesn't really need explaining, you just go around and talk to people, try to survive, accept quests, you can even steal stuff. But then the people try to kill you...

3DS has very good hardware for handheld.  So why not?

Holy forget where's the fast-forward button

One of my guys had a mood but it failed and he went berserk, 7 of my war dogs mauled him but he killed every one of them along with 3 baby dogs. There's dead stuff everywhere because my indoor refuse pile filled up from other dead stuff, now it's like perma miasma in half the god damn fort. Luckily 80% of my dwarves are ok because they are in the meeting hall, which is sealed behind doors from everything else. But all the other guys are gunna be hella pissed off once this stuff stops. :/

I had a baby tie up his mother with dropkicks, punches, strangleholds, all sorts of stuff when she went berserk long enough for the military to arrive, he survived too.

I swear to god that baby was trained by the CIA.

There was a rather large adventure mode update, so yeah, they did change a lot of stuff.
Really? I still run 0.31.18

After I got used to how to play DF it's really quite awesome.
I'm rather confused as to why the dwarves keep storing dead stuff in the storerooms, but hey ho.

I remember one time I built a whole city above ground, was awesome.
Then I reset my computer without thinking...

Do you have a stockpile for miasma/remains or whatever? Im not sure exactly what it was called but still. Also make sure to put air-tight doors on your stockpiles so the miasma doesnt travel out into the hallways - If theyre on a top floor you can put in a vent system or something

i put my refuse piles outside

also how do i train a dwarf to become a broker or something.

Im redownloading the game at like 20kb/s... but eventually Ill be able to actually look at it and helps yous :P

From what I remember you dont train, you just click the n key to go to nobles and from there you can assign broker, expedition dude, etc if they are available

Ah, refuse pile sorted. Put it outside, no miasmas.

On the other hand, it's a rather nice trap if you make massive areas of refuse underground, make sure your dwarves go nowhere near it and then just watch as beasties are, I think, killed by miasmas.

How do you set a dwarf to be, say, a miner? I've only got one guy mining out a 50x50 cavern and it's taking forever.

Dwarves will mine if they have enough experience as a miner.

And anyone have good tutorials for setting up a militia? I stopped playing DF months ago after hours of gameplay because the militias are so hard to make.

Miasma is not deadly, but it causes unhappiness.

I've lost my life to this game for the past weekend. It's pretty fun once you learn how to play it.
I suggest OP adds a link to this tutorial in the main post. http://afteractionreporter.com/2009/02/09/the-complete-and-utter-newby-tutorial-for-dwarf-fortress-part-1-wtf/
