I'm still with my Windows XP and I'll probably stay with it another year or 2. Probably with this exact computer.

I am pretty sure the wireless card thing on my computer is broken. I am using a usb thingy to access the internet on my computer right now, but I have a feeling this is bad. How do I go about getting a new one?

Did you make sure its just not disabled?

Then upgrade to windows 8?

My device manager isn't detecting it and it won't let me install the driver for it.

Make sure the card is fully pushed in on the mother board, it might have come loose.

Hnng I really don't want to turn off my computer and mess around in it but I'll try that later.

It's stuck at transferring files, is this normal?

You don't have to turn off your computer to see if its loose, its just recommended.
Very recommended. I stuck my hand in a turned on computer and the fan cut me, I got burned, and I was shocked.

it's justing saying Please wait... Then back to that

As long as somethings happening as an indicator that its working than you shouldn't worry. Its probably just a big file.

How can I find it to know if it's loose?
