Well
It should be common sense. :c
Just get Ubuntu! :D

EDIT: Oh crap, double post
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-64.aspx

I installed Debian.
It's just bash. I want KDE. What do I do?
Uh, uninstall Debian and install KDE then?

Yeah...
Sounds more like a monitor problem then. Try your drivers, if that doesn't work, then try an external monitor.

I'm looking for a laptop that is compatible with a Hackintosh (I know most hardware is with all the patches and all), what I mean is things that work well with Hackintosh by default like intel CPU, nVidia graphics, etc.  Hoping for decent specs, maybe some gaming but meh (highest thing I'll probably run is Skyrim, and that runs on a Radeon HD 4550 512 MB, which is pretty low end.)

Price range is HOPEFULLY under $550, but I can go up to $600.  I would like it MUCH more if it was under $550 (or 550 on the dot).

Edit: List edition
MUST HAVE;
-Hackintosh Compatible Mobo
-Under 600.

Like to have;
-Intel CPU
-nVidia Graphics
-Under 550.
-Webcam

Doesn't matter;
-Everything else.

Appears to work. Not the exact model, but couldn't find anything on that.

Looks more promising.

Google Search

Looks like it would work too.

could you give me a $600 $200 budget list of parts for a friend?
king of page 200 :3
$200? Near impossible dude.
Even the $300 in OP was a stretch.

page loss
Update sound drivers.

Can anyone dig up some info about my motherboard? The user manual that came with this PC didn't tell me what sort of RAM configuration it uses, I need to know what the maximum speed is on it's RAM slots.
It's a stock Dell mobo, Dell Inc. 04GJJT model.

Currently I have 4.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 533MHz (7-7-7-20) according to Speccy, but it doesn't tell me what the max clock speed is :I
Either CPUID PC Wizard or Everest should tell you what the max speed is.

what
sound is usually measured in hertz, how the forget are you getting kilobytes out of it?
Bitrate?

What about those numbers in brackets next to the hertz rate?
That's timing.

I need an AMD Radeon HD 6990.
I also need a car.
Which one should I get?
Car.

You guys really should mention that you need an optical drive and an OS. As stupid as that seems.

Now I have to spend another hundred dollars. :(
I do!
If you actually read the OP (Why did I put so much god damn work in to it? Nobody reads it and at least once per 3 pages someone asks something that is mentioned in OP or they complain about not having this info when it is in OP) you would have known.

CPUID only told me info about my currently installed RAM, can't find anything about the maximum supported clockspeed.
But I did a bit of digging around of tech forums and such and found a lot of people talking about what upgrades they made to their Inspiron 570, as far as I can tell I'll be fine with 1333 MHz DDR3.

Thanks for the help though

Ethan, you told me I only needed 7 things. And I ordered those 7 things.

You only need 7 things.

I bought those 7 things.
But I can't actually use my computer once I build it, without an operating system.

What error? I can't tell from here :P

I can't even understand it even tough it's in swedish, so I think it wouldn't be worth posting.

...

OH YEAH
I meant this link
What was I meant to do? sorry. I forget stuff.

Ethan, you told me I only needed 7 things. And I ordered those 7 things.
If you actually looked in the loving original post, then you'd realize what the forget you need to build a loving computer.
I don't think you should be taking on the task of building a computer if you don't loving know that you need a loving OS.
Anyway, your computer still works with only 7 things. Hell, it can work with 6 if you wanted. Linux isn't an operating system? It's free, use it if you want.

Below I will suggest some systems for varying price ranges. Don't forget that the total may include rebates. Also, none of these include an operating system. Keep $100 aside for your OS.

If I was a first time PC builder, I'd research as much as loving possible. I also wouldn't make any mistakes if it was laid out in front of me like in OP, because somebody has taken the time to put all the information you need together.

I can't even understand it even tough it's in swedish, so I think it wouldn't be worth posting.
Post it, I'll try to sort it out :)
We kinda need that error.

Sheesh, calm down. Two questions:
1.) Excuse my naivete, but my processor is my CPU right?
and
2.) How would I go about installing Linux?

Huh... In Device manager it says I have both a AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 AND a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6370. The laptop also has the ability to switch between GPUs for power saving reasons. Would this mean I really have 2 video cards?

CPU = Central Processing Unit, aka Processor.

Download Linux, create either a CD or Flash drive, and install.
There are many different versions to install.

The 880G is the chipset, and the 4250 is an integrated card. This is your power-saving, integrated card. Your 6370 is a (debatable) high performance card which you can switch to, which will draw more power but give more performance (not much TBH, 6370 is still quite low end).
Yes, you do have 2 video cards.

I've built a computer and I'm getting some error beeps.
3 long and 1 short beep. There is no mention of this beep code but it appears to be some RAM issues (although RAM issue beep code is written as "constant long beep" in the manual) so I've decided to play it safe and ask you what RAM replacement-replacement RAM sticks I should buy for my Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 motherboard, since my Corsair Vengeance LP only gives me beeps.

How the hell does a computer make those Error Beeps when theres no speakers  connected to it?
