this thread? page 5? not on my watch

anyway, I watched the video someone posted on the last page. I then watched his updated version, since then I've been watching many of that guy's videos. I'm learning stuff! .. was able to take the side panel off my PC and identify lots of the parts/what the wiring was. feels good man :)

This drive is cheaper on Newegg.ca than it is on Newegg.com by $10 and Free Shipping. Likely purchasing it today seeing as it's not a refurb.
The only thing is that the $10 comes back in sales tax :(
or this drive holy balls $40 for 320GB

Lol np :)

I'm looking into upgrading from a GeForce 9800 GT to something in the $160 range, as well as a decent HD (and widescreen?) monitor to go with it. I found these two cards.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130750 - GeForce GTX 460
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102908 - Radeon HD 6850

(I'm no expert, so I don't know how decent these cards are, for the price and in comparison to each other)

and as for monitors (price range around $200), the reason I have a Nvidia and AMD card is because I don't know much about HDMI and monitors. The GTX 440 has a mini-HDMI thing, while every monitor I look at only says HDMI. I don't know how compatibility works and all that, and if I would have to buy an extra mini-HDMI to HDMI thing (which I'd rather avoid). there is also the DVI ports, but I assumed HDMI was for HD-quality-whatnot which is what I'm after.

so I'm pretty much clueless and would appreciate some pointers, haha.

all of those processor choices are vomit and the graphics card choices are even worse

*GTX 460
The Mini-HDMI adapter comes with it. HDMI doesn't necessarily mean HD, it can run 1024x768 as well as the standard 1920x1080 (1080i/p)
The 6850 is slightly more bang for your buck while the 460 has more features such as PhysX cores and CSAA (I thought it was up to like 32x anti-aliasing)

ha, that's the third time I've confused 440 for 460.
so from this response, it sounds like I should be set regardless of which one I got. that's cool.

Provided you have an adequate power supply (550W or more should cut it,) yeah. You'd be set.

I have the chassis model NZXT Phantom for the computer I am building. This chassis has the motherboard compatibility of E-ATX, ATX, MICRO-ATX, and ITX. I have $136.68 on my debt card. What's a good motherboard I could get? (There's always codes for new egg that gives me a small percentage off, so if it's only 15% or a little more higher than the money in my bank account, I can still get it. Also I intend to use it for gaming.)

can you help me find one?

Bump again.
Anyone know of a really good CPU cooler that is compatible with AM3 socket? I am willing to spend up to $50 on one.

You're not stating any other features you want (SLI, CrossFireX, RAID, etc.) Please be more specific.

Does anyone know if this case can fit anymore 80mm fans?

From looking at it, there are zero 80mm fan ports.

I have the exact same one and the max temperature I ever hit was 48°C.

Bump.
Is there a good computer that will let me play Battlefield 3 on medium settings?

My graphics card problem is fixed, turns out I just needed to update the Catalyst software.

How much are you looking to spend, and are you willing to build one yourself?
