None of you mentioned how loving hard it is to find where all the wires go and tidy them up properly, holy stuff.
I'd think it's to be expected, when you look at a clusterforget that is a prebuilt.
Anyway, got everything in except the GPU which im doing tommorow as i can't stare at any tiny words on the mobo any longer, eugh.
You just plug in the card and connect any necessary PCIe connectors, you don't need to stare at tiny words for it. Most motherboards come with documentation about what power LED connector goes where and et cetera, and plenty of boards have pull-off connectors where you connect them to the little plastic board that comes off and then connect that to the motherboard. It's a lot better than having to connect them individually on the board itself.

computers don't seem hard to build :o

so uh guys, Christmas is coming up and I feel as if I need more ram cause I like to run servers, can anyone recommend me a good amount (past 4gb) for running servers decently while also running the game decently?

It's more dependent on your processor than it is on RAM, what's your processor as of right now?

Celeron D 3.3GHz, but I think it's fine.

uh yeah that's the issue
Assuming it's a Celeron D 356 (which it likely is,) you've got a really really stuffty processor with a 533MHz FSB. That was standard back in 2004. I'd consider upgrading that instead of RAM to get a better performance, but since the socket is already 5 years old, I'd just get a new computer overall.

Ok, should I get AMD or intel?

Assuming you want more bang for your buck, go for AMD. If you're just looking for overall sheer power, go with Intel.

sorry I'm terrible at understanding but uh, I've heard that AMD is good for games :l

They both are. I have an i7-2600 (Intel) and that thing screams.

god damnit I don't want to touch that thing cause it has some coolant stuff on it I don't want to mess with ;_;

Coolant? Assuming you're talking about liquid cooling, I just have a giant ass cooling fan on it by CoolerMaster. Really good 3rd party fan, easy to install.

AMD makes budget processors. Intel's processors are better than AMD processors but they cost more.

The thermal paste, I'm worried ill forget something up, I just want to stick to the ram ;_;

that's the thermal pad (circled in red) on the back of an i7-2600k's stock cooler. you won't mess it up. every processor will need thermal paste regardless of what kind it is, so no matter what, you're dealing with it.

ram won't make a difference if your CPU sucks (it does)
