Redliub, I don't want to make living in a city mandatory, I just want to give incentive for people who do. By no means should be people be forced into something in this context, I'm just trying to foster and encourage a community based server. Essentially though, you said what I've already said: griefing and the such are not allowed in towns.

I'll get to registering people a little later, I don't have access to the admin page of the website ATM.
So you're pretty much refusing to work against griefing outside of towns?

Im seeing one major problem, Im seeing people post about being griefed, about every day

pretty fail greifing job
untouched house except lava, i can easily replant farm, only half fences was lost
he barely touched brandon's house too

can't say i wasn't expecting it but they could've done better

overall i'd give it a 3/10 for minor effort

Fred, I feel like you've opposed every decision that I've made for this server, sometimes justified, sometimes (perhaps) just to spite me. But I think you're approaching this new rule with little regard to its potential to keep the server more interesting. I implemented this rule to give an incentive for joining with other players and maintaining a sense of community. The idea is, when you live on your own, you should expect people to be looking to steal your stuff, and kill you, and burn your crops. Whatever it may be. If you choose to live on your own, you face these dangers. Unless you live inconspicuously, or far away. The incentive for players who like to stay isolated is an added element of challenge: you gotta be prepared for someone to come around and want to forget you up.

On the other hand, people who are adamantly opposed to any form of griefing are encouraged to invite their friends, make friends on the server, and form up a community. Not only is there strength in numbers, but with joint supplies and efforts you have an increased ability to build structures and not just survive, but thrive. In addition to that benefit, you also have the law on your side. If raiders decide to dump some lava on your town, or steal stuff, or kill residents inside the town, or something like that, I'll gladly revert the damages, compensate for what was lost, and ban the offender.

Sorry for the long post, but I just wanted to lay out my intentions with this new rule. I hope this clears things up for you, because I hate to see anyone be striving to find or create problems for the server, and then proceed to complain about them here.
I have no reason to spite you, fact is that the pvp era basically removed most of the kodleeshare playerbase. I've had the server on my list for a long time and a few days ago was the first time i'd ever seen more than 5 people online at once. The whole "you need to be prepared to fight for your land" stuff works well in theory, seeing as the idea is based in real life where nobody disappears into thin air for around 20 hours in the day. I, being a human being with responsibilities, needs, and wants am not going to play minecraft all day, and so all the raiding is done while i'm not there to fight for my stuff. I would get my friends to come play, but they all have servers that they like. I've suggested things before and i've never just opposed your actions without reason, i feel i'm well within my boundaries in regards to this server.

For all i know, the person griefing everything is Racivor,

Racivor is a hacker, in which if you provoke him/her, he/she will soar through the skies in super speed.

My "base" is very hidden, and the only person that knows is fireboy and Racivor.

The scary part is that Racivor is a dude :| but anyway, I'll hop on the server and check out some of the griefed sites for evidence that Racivor was hacking. If he was, I'll ban him. No problem there. Until I've got proof though, it's up to you guys to fend him off.

The temp PVP war map was not the sole purpose for our temporary...death, you might say. Our recent attempts to revive the server have (so far) paid off.

In the same way that the mayor of Las Vegas would pay compensation to the hermit who had his house burned down in the middle of the Mojave desert. Not the best brown townogy, but if you'd like to see it that way, go for it.

that would be me

And me too, but that just means I was able to appreciate the references. "Why are you running around that red palm tree?"

In fact, my experiences with Paper Mario have all been fantastic, despite the fact that I had to play the N64 one through an emulator with a stuffty rom. The screen flickered the whole game, and it always crashed at the squid boss, and the emulator didn't save. So I kept it open for weeks on end.

I see no other reasons why the server's population dropped. People didn't want to play pvp and there were other servers open, so they migrated and dispersed.

How about the fact that we neglected to update the server for ages?

Either way, reasons aside, the important thing is that we learned what users want and do not want. The odd part is, we ran a poll for it and users voted in favor of a temp PVP map.

Well, we were gonna work on getting Multiverse working for the creative world tonight, but dev.bukkit.org is down right now :(

But we worked on the website today! It's coming along. As for creative, we'll do our best to get that working before this week is out.

Thanks everyone for spending so much time online this weekend, we've had steady traffic the whole weekend and most of last week! Towns are popping up, people are trading, stuff is getting built, so thank you guys!

people stopped playing way before the late maps and stuff. There were only like four people on when i last played that particular map.
