i think so.

  • 3+ residents
  • 4+ buildings
  • A community board
  • A tree

instead of a tree, can we use a fountain instead? :D

Nope, You need a tree pretty much no matter what if I remember correctly. You can pretty much put a tree anywhere as say it's your tree.

Kinda interested in this after seeing the thread a few times. What is the general feel of the server? Just grinding to reach the higher tier stuff, building giant impossible projects, building in a survival sort of style?

the town stuff is handicapped. here's why. if you don't have 3 friends that want to play kodleeshare with you, you have to invite newcomers. and there's no way you're going to invite 3 newcomers at once, so you'll have to live within proximity of people you don't really know until you finish building the requirements and get all the people you need. and you won't be protected by the anti-griefing.

Why, do you not have the full version of Minecraft?

I do not let my mood influence administrative decisions. Personal policy, and a matter of keeping things professional. I'm looking for substance in an application, not something that looks like they filled the space just to have something there. Duskhelt wrote: Hi. I'm Duskhelt, and I like minecraft. I enjoy building and seeing what cool buildings other people have made. My brother (Your_Buddy_Bill) started playing on this server, and got me curious about it, so I'd like to give it a shot. IDK what else to put here, so i'll leave it at that.

Here's an example of one of the best applications I've ever received for KS:

Quote
Hello Owners and Administrators of the KS Server!

My name is [removed], and I will be as truthful as possible in this application.

I have owned Minecraft since the end of 2011. I started playing on December 25, 2011, but I have known about the game since July of that same year.

I have been part of the Punchwood Community since May 13th, 2012, and have loved the place ever since! They are a wonderful community, and I intend on spending much more time there. Even though I mostly roleplay on the site, I do often go into the chat and interact with others there.

I will be blunt on this next part. I have griefed before. Once, actually. However, I completely regret the decision, and have fixed things with the former server owner. His name is [removed] (I think.) I no longer grief, and that was more than a year ago, I believe.

I love being part of communities! Even though I'm not very social in real life (What is this real life thing I speak of? :P), I am very active in communities online and love to meet new friends!

My electricity had been down for months, so I just got access to my computer back 3 days ago. So, I'm ready to try new servers! :D

Also, I have not used any mods that give me an advantage on server in over half a year now, as I pretty much see no point to it anymore.

I have been a mod on numbers of servers, and a Guard on some Prison Servers. I understand how rules work, and understand them all.

Other than that, that's pretty much it! I would love to be part of the community and spread the word :P

Thanks for reading!

To address the bit about users having an aversion to coop:

If we simply allowed users to sprout off on their own and live alone in far corners of the world, we've got a couple problems on our hands. One, players never interact (let alone see each other) and the purpose of the server is gone to stuff. The other problem is that the map gets absurdly huge very quickly and slows things down for everyone. Why bother being on a server if you're going to live alone and never interact with anyone? That's why we wanted to lend a little encouragement for players to work with each other and trade and all that stuff. It's what makes a server fun, and it's why I get so sad when nobody's online. The best times I've ever had on this server is when it's full of people and everyone is trading, building, fighting, exploring, and having a good time. I just wanted to foster that kind of environment on the server. To do this I've consistently opened polls through the years to player input, I've listened to you guys and heard what you want. But this time, I'm not prepared to make a change so fast.

I really think encouraging coop and offer benefits for working together is the best way to bring people together, and if you'd like to look at it as an obligation to avoid being griefed, so be it. Take a look at the big picture and decide if that's how you want to look on what we've got here. This place has got the potential to be an amazing server, and I've seen it get there in the past. I want to work together with you guys, the players, to make it great. All I want is you guys to have a great server experience, so do me one favor and consider the ups and downs of keeping this whole "established towns" policy a thing.

Thanks guys, for all the feedback, and everything. I couldn't do it without you.

I'll try to let other players answer this, but from what I've seen it's typically been a building in a survival sort of style, although we've had creative worlds in the past, and special events like round-based zombie survival and hunger games. Anyone else, feel free to say more on this! We'd love to have you around, Oasis.

just a question,
if we have tons of established towns/whatever,
are we gonna be able to set wars? that'd be dope as forget

Where might I be able to create a ban appeal?
edit: I can't find anywhere on the kodleeshare.net page to submit my appeal

PM me.

On the topic of coop, coop is self-defeating in many cases simply because some people just can't work together. I'm happy to trade and to drop by and help out with the projects of others, but by nature I'm suspicious and I don't let people on to what I'm up to in my own place.

People are more capable of working together than they realize, mainly because they never try. They just strike out on their own and don't even try to find people who would be suitable to work with.

I'm not saying find a butt buddy and share all your resources, but if you're so suspicious and prefer to be at your own place, why even be on the server? Just to have people to be away from?

I find living out far away is fun because it makes me feel much safer, and I can do /spawn to trade and such. Plus it makes me more and less prone to being griefed.
