About 20-30.
There are servers with more than 20-30 players at once. Them holding the weapons would be the same effect as spawning them.
Oh and the reason the PSP can handle 550k polies is because the resolution is low and even with the number of polygons, the software cuts down on detail in order to make the thing run better.
Don't compare something that's been optimized and cut down to an extremely resource-unfriendly engine that will look exactly as you model it.
It's also not just my computer. A majority of the players complained. Not just in the server I tested it in, but on some of your topics.
There are many other games you can make high poly models for. Being a good modeller also means you can model for many different styles. You seem to only be good at one.
Ok. So say the PSPs hardware was forced to render at the default Blockland resolution (800x600). Thats 480000 pixels. The PSP's screen resolution is 480x272. 130560 pixels. that would make Blockland's resolution about 3.68 times larger than the PSP's. So the PSP's hardware running at 800x600 could handle at least 149,000 polygons while maintaining the full 60 FPS. Now, I know that these ratios are not perfectly interchangeable, but its close enough to work, keeping in mind that blockland has no framebuffer effects or post-processing or anything of that nature.
I never run at a resolution anything higher than 800x600, the default. Anyone with a stuffty computer that sets it to native resolution and fullscreen is an idiot, and thus the lag is their fault.
By the way. I just got a new computer (my old one died). This computer was $100 less than my old one and I get a solid 400 FPS on slate with no bricks or items. that's over 8x as many as my old one got. And my old one NEVER showed lag from polygons. Not from this pack, nor bricks, nor anything else.
My old computer would now cost under $200 used and my graphics card would cost $40. Again, that is the price for the laptop card, and an equivalent desktop card would be half the price. If not less.
So stop being lazy and invest $20 into your computer if its a peice of stuff. It's definitely a worthwhile investment.
Plus, I checked Google, and you can easily find computers better than this one at lower prices than what I paid for it. I had to go through Best Buy to get a warranty.
