First of all, Steelix has sturdy. Secondly, I'd be using Magnezone to fight your Vaporeon.

Sturdy only blocks attacks that are supposed to be OHKO's, i.e Fissure, Sheer Cold, etc.

Surf does not count, so Steelix is likely to be one-shotted by it

That's stuff. Back in my day, we didn't have "Magnezone" or "Magnet Rise" and Sturdy didn't negate all OHKO's.

Dealing with fire types is one of the only times I toss Golem out there. Have fun with your brown townly-embedded stone edge.

with the exception of Skarmory, I can sleep every one of those before they can touch me
then leech seed them for sapping health every turn.

of course, you do have a point, against metagross at least I would have to switch Venusaur out into probably Arcanine. Golem would take a Razor Leaf to the star fish, though.
