I've been concentrating on the other features more so I'm like around 10 hours in but still just beat the 3rd badge.

So far my team is snorlax(18), frogadier(24), fletchinder(24), ivysaur(24). When I get old amber I'm replacing fletchinder with aerodactyl and I might switch ivysaur with an exeggcute if I find one.

I had a major setback where I slipped my 3DS in my pocket and when I pulled it back out it said the game had been removed

Just a reminder to save often; I lost a fair bit of levels, some story progress, and the first Honedge I caught which was a male (for my nicknaming purposes) with a good nature

loving bullstuff, only had to face two and both swept my entire team despite being around the same level. I only beat both with almost making them faint and using quick attack to finish it.

I tried going through mystery trade with a crappy pokemon till i got an interesting one.

weedle lvl 3 -> smergle lvl 18 -> metapod lvl 4 -> furfrou lvl 9 ->  furfrou lvl 9 -> zigzagoon lvl 4 -> Spritzee lvl 14 (Pokemon from japanese games keep their japanese name! :D)

What is a good level to leaf stone a pansage?

It really depends on how they revamped it's skill set. But based on the Gen V set, I'd evolve it at 22.
