What are your hopes/expectations for Sun/Moon?

I'm hoping for a larger number of new pokemon than in X/Y, and hopefully a lesser focus on giving mega evolutions to gen 1-5 pokemon. I like mega evolutions, but I also like brand new pokemon to play with.

I also hope for, but don't expect, better quality 3D. I'm quite disappointed with gen 6's 3D, both because it is only available in battles, but also (and primarily) because when 3D is on it greatly and noticably lowers the frame rate, to the extent that I have to turn it off. At which point it seems pointless to even have 3D at all.

In sun and moon I wanna have a 3v3 moltres battle, turn on the 3d, and not get a frame spike

that's part of the reason I was hoping it'd be N3DS only, since it's still going to have to run on the original 3DS the performance isn't going to change much unless they managed to significantly optimize things

I've only had my 3ds xl for probably less than a year. Pretty sure I got it last September and buying a whole new device doesn't seem worth it to me.
