I don't really give a stuff about it as long as people aren't like "This is a christian country! see it's on our money!"
But I've encountered far too many people who do that, so signed
Not that a meager 20k signatures is going to go far towards removing trillions of coins and bills from circulation, or that removing it from newly minted/printed currency will make any noticeable difference anytime soon.
Time to responds to things posted several pages ago! Yay!
Take away "in god we trust" is like saying "Hey were a bunch of people who hate god"
Are you going to say that every other country whose motto doesn't praise god hates religions?
What would be like saying "Hey were a bunch of people who hate god" would be replacing the motto with "In God we do not trust"
That's not what this is. This is removing a mention of a specific one religion.....you
do know that there is more than one religion right? And many of them don't believe in your god? Removing this makes in more free for the countless other religions who don't follow your god.
And plus, wasn't "In God We Trust" on currency before Separation of Church and State was even official
The passage that supports separation of church and state is in the first amendment, part of the Bill of Rights ratified in 1791.
"In God We Trust" and "One Nation, under God" was added to our currency and pledge in the 1950s'/60's.
i was mainly concerned that the whole "law" part was neglected and they were paying attention to the words "respect", "government", and "religion".
A law is more than "YOU MAY NOT DO THIS"
I think we auta keep the motto on it. Its the MOTTO and it should always stay on it. Just like how my states motto is "United we stand divided we fall" its on the flag and everything and we ain't taking it off.
Keeping the motto that same is exactly the point.
In God We Trust wasn't our motto until
1956 when it replaced our original motto - E Pluribus Unum.
We're asking to get back the original motto, that was adopted over 200 years ago.
