DAY Z MEGATHREAD - OP finally gets this mod.

I'm starting to hate the Rocket guy who made this mod. He stated that if you are running a server with his mod you are only "renting" it. He says can't even moderate it can't even moderate your server. The truth is he owns none of the server in the first place.

Agh, my mate and i found our way to some hospital.
It was nice to finally find one, however, we had to leave fast.
We heard some gunfire, saw some flares and near the hospital was a dead guy, pretty well equipped (i looted him fast) and with bloodbags.
Obviously, someone was hunting people here.
So we took some stuff and ran.

Eventually we died by a single zombie...
Well, i died and he had to run for more zombies.
Then he lost his stuff for a magical reason. :C

Anyhow, it was night, so when that zombie ran up to me we both switched to our melee weapons.
However, the crowbar is stuff.
The axe is cool though.

But yeah, the zombie was in front of me, made me go unconscious, then he ate me.
My friend didn't see the zombie. >_<

Then we restarted, found another hospital eventually.
Found a guy, saved him from zombies, talked to him, all of sudden, gunfire. D:
So i crawled to the gate, opened it and the gate decided to say "forget you imma gate".
It knocked me unconscious.
Friend got sniped, guy ran for his life, again.
Eventually i gained conscious and went on the roof of the hospital.
Next time we will continue our mission from there.

I think you don't understand.

However I completely disagree with him dictating terms of how servers are run. This is completely unacceptable; he doesn't own the servers, is not paid by the renters and therefore cannot set the rules on how servers are run. The so called abuse of people being kicked is readily solved, people spread the word and the server becomes a ghost town. If someone is renting a server they're paying for a virtual world with rules set by them. What if it's full 9/10 times like DE 7? A bit of a kick in the face to paying members if you can't kick to make room without potentially facing Rocket's over-zealous ban hammer.

I can understand that he should set sort of terms and conditions for servers (like EA's rules of engagement) but he's full on dictating how individual servers are run and what administration rights are and aren't allowed. Being able to kick, or if necessary ban, people is a fundamental part of running and maintaing a decent server, anyone who's been a server admin knows this. To take that away from server admins or paying clan members just makes it completely pointless to have a server in the first place, especially if it's almost always full (as some are) as I said in my initial comment or being griefed by server hopping bandits.

I've just been on a number of servers that have been griefed the hell out of by server hopping bandits, people just camping spawn points and such not even being a bandit for the sake of surviving, and the admins have been too afraid to kick them for fear of incurring Rocket's wrath. Unfortunately there are bandits that take away the survival feel of the game, as some posts above me have said. It is those people who should be prejudiced against, not the admins trying to maintain a good server.

I love the mod, but I disagree with his "play it the way I want" attitude. I can't think of another mod or game that has such strict controls on server admins and I'm surprised if I'm honest that so many people agree with it. There's far simpler solutions to admin abuse than the way Rocket is going about.

You can't even moderate your own server? You have to do everything according to someone else's rules?

That kills off any remaining interest I had in this game right there. I'm happy never playing it and sparing myself the frustration of a massive free-for-all FPS with zombies thrown in.

Good work Rocket, you're as bad as EA with their "you only rent the server, WE OWN IT. You play how WE want you to." angle.

It's not as bad as all out free for all FPS, but no you can't really moderate your own server as it says in the last paragraph of the community section. You're essentially paying for a server that you could potentially not get access to or have the stuff griefed out of it.

If you're interested I'd say get it, top mod and very atmospheric, but Rocket does make some very questionable decisions with direction.

Also I hear you are now dumped without a pistol, bandages, food, and extra stuff.

Oh wah horrible hosts can't kick everybody. In the way the mod is designed, it needs no moderation.

The only thing that needs moderation is people hacking, and BattleEye handles that pretty well.

Alright, second time. I was climbing around, and I dropped five feet and fell unconscious. I was bleeding out like crazy, and then my screen was fuzzy and stuff. Spent 40 minutes looking for a weapon, didn't find one. Accidentally alerted a zombie. Ran around for a bit with him on my tail. Decided I should just die.

We headed to elektro and saw 3 people moving in a field near the northern firehouse. I sniped two of them and my other friend got the last one with the FAL.
