Author Topic: DAY Z MEGATHREAD - OP finally gets this mod.  (Read 136557 times)

How do I deal with zombies? I tried to walk into a town and they were everywhere.

Run to the place you wanna go to, like a building, then disconnect and reconnect.

Once the zombies have difficulty that isn't impossible to avoid, then you can crawl, and avoid them and stuff.

There's basically a few tips you need to know if you want to survive a decent amount of time.

First, here's the map of Chernarus:

Second, avoid Chernagorsk entirely. Only enter Elektro if you are almost going to die from hunger or thirst and ARE ARMED. In all likely hood you will never make it out.

Third, if you are able, kill everyone. There is absolutely no incentive to team up right now and chances are your teammate will get you killed.

Fourth, whenever you can see a zombie, you should be prone. That means laying on the ground. Never stand up ever unless you are being chased by zombies. If you are being chased, run to a dense area of houses and confuse them by running through tight spaces. When you are sufficiently far away, jump to the ground by pressing Z and move away. Use crouch walk (x) when moving between towns)

Fifth, never use the Lee Enfield or unsilenced sniper rifle in a city. Ever.

Sixth, if your blood is gradually decreasing, bandage immediately. If you have no bandages, look for them. You do not regain blood and the only way to force yourself to is to eat food which is difficult to acquire or get a blood transfusion which is even harder.

And finally, always play in the dark and try and immerse yourself otherwise the game is boring as forget.

seventh... some guys made interactive maps for dayz....

You don't really even need a map. The landscape of chernarus is really memorable and I could tell you where I am at any given time.

I agree with all your points. Don't see why people like Cherno so much when elektro has more loot spots.

I disagree with point 5, my friend has killed like 30 people in elektro with an M107 on a rooftop, in the middle of a city. You just need a good spot on a rooftop and you actually can basically own everyone.

Hey uh guys

I was considering getting DayZ and I was wondering

A. Does it have building? As in can you barricade yourself away in a building and make a little safehouse for yourself?

B. Does it have destructible terrain?

C. Is there more than one kind of zombie, or are they all the same thing?

Rooftop sniping is okay. If you are in the middle of a street and fire a lee enfield at a zombie, everything will attack you.

Yes

No

Yes (There are different kinds)

Before you spend 30.00$ on it though, ask yourself if you're able to fully immerse yourself in a fearful situation even knowing you can respawn. Because what made it hard for me to enjoy this game when I first start is the fact I can't really force myself into getting scared.

>killing people with an M197
>mfw an M197 is a high powered minigun...

The game is ArmA. Read up on it's gameplay, and you can only barricade yourself against zombies, as all players can get through the sandbags, barbed wire, and tank traps.

How does the building system work?

And what different types of zombies are there?

Are sandbags, barbed wire, and tank traps the only things you can build, or does the mod have extra?

just going to throw this out there

a. there is a 5% chance you will be able to convince me to play DayZ with you

b. i will not play willingly

c. if you get a helicopter, i can fly it no matter what's broken (besides engine/ main rotor)

Yea, I remember my first day playing DayZ, I found a lee enfield and shot the first zombie I saw on the outskirts of Cherno, 40 zombies killed me a minute later

I also recommend anyone who actually survives in a city, always check out the fire stations, I always get AKMs there and once found an M4A3 there.

how ;-;

Sandbags you can jump over, barbed wire can be taken down with a toolbox, don't know about tank traps.

Meant M107 not the minigun lol

amateur!

That is all you can build. The ArmA engine is brutally unforgiving, and it's not worth the high chance you'll get stuck in the object you built to even construct things.

yeah feep is a boss helicopter. When we play Anzu's War Games he even puts on the CCR song Fortunate Son.
