which faction is the coolest?

Depends on what you like.
NV is yellow/blue has the hardest hitting weapon, slower yet more powerful vehicles, and stuff like that.
TR is red/black and has the fastest firing weapons, faster vehicles designed more for quickly doing multiple strikes on a target.
VS is basically the wildcard, puple/cyan, and has alien tech. They're generally the middle concerning firepower/speed and their vehicles are super alien like and such.

I personally like NC, TR is cool but eh.

from what I've heard, reddit's favored faction is NC, 4chan's is TR, and something awful's is NC.

No, it's:
you get 1000 of your teamates and ATTACK another base. Usually if the main armies are assaulting a base a few defenders can hold the base. But yes, there can be some huge defense/vs attacks, but the main focus isn't completely the base attack, because there's also strategic points around the map made for fighting. If you've ever seen anything of planetside 1 you'd see that possibly over half the fighting isn't even done at bases.

lol registering from the main site doesnt work. about 1 million people probably registered. follow them on twitter and they just throw keys at you all the time. Easy trivia questions, BETA KEY BILL, fan picks. This is what I did to get my key:

NC - civilians with guns. VS- weirdo tech-heads. TR- noble warriors who fight for honor.

and Sentinel sent me a key :D. Just for posting! tip: Sentinel loves the TR (the best) and he loves people who love the TR. Valkyrie seems to like NC.

Gah they just gave a random key away in the open and I was to late. Man whoever entered that thing before me was fast cause i saw it right when the posted it and went straight to the website :/

Tip: They usually make you remove *, so i was always ready with ctrl h in notepad to find and replace.
