I have never played a Paper Mario game. Is this one worth starting out on?

NO. No it is NOT.

Paper Mario is supposed to be an RPG game with leveling, party members, and badges that act like special battle moves and powerups. This game has NONE of that. If you start on this game, you miss 90% of what Paper Mario was based on and that's the reason why I loving hate it. Ive beaten the game, just to say I have. I got absolutely no enjoyment from this game.

Also, to those who say the game is easy.. Show of posts, who used a walk through? I figured all this stuff on my own.

You got no enjoyment out of it because you liked the other ones, Somebody with no experience with the series doesn't have that comparison. Why not say play it then play thousand year door to see how much better it is?

it's also pretty impossible to get literally no enjoyment from a game unless the game or you are trying to get no enjoyment

I wanted to love this game, I really did. But they took EVERYTHING I loved about the original Paper Mario games away and replaced it with a half assed item system.

I got no enjoyment out of the game because every 10 god damned steps I was compelled to yell "Wrong! That's WRONG! That's not how that works!!" True I hate this game because I enjoyed the older style, and because if that this game hits me at all the wrong angles.

The game was more of a "stuff, where do I use _____ sticker?" or "stuff, what sticker do I use here?" kind of game. The game would be forgivable if sticker usage made some goddamn sence. I mean, the Goat sticker clears a pile of paper? What!?

Nintendo has to realise that most of their consumer base grew up with these older styles. They should not try to "appeal to new audiences" by changing the name of the game. If the game is good, it will bring in attention by itself.

This is not your game, Grow up.

Every paper mario game is pretty radically different (Not including n64 -> gamecube)

Also goats eating paper seems pretty obvious to me, That's just a thing that's, Hey goats eat anything.

hey guess what they call those in games

they're called puzzles

Yeah. If you're not used to puzzles, try playing Legend of Zelda games or something like that.

You people are morons. That's no puzzle. Puzzles atleast give you hints as to what you do, also those "sticker puzzles" are not fun. Trying to figure out what item works where is a pain, expecially if when you mess up the sticker goes away. And for the record, I've played nearly all Zelda titles and enjoyed each. The puzzles they have are intuitave, fun and not a guessing game. Their goal is clear, but obtaining it is the puzzle.

This is not your game, Grow up.

Okay.
1) Never did I refer to Paper Mario as "My Game". The first two games happen to be my favorite games of all time.
2) Yes, the first two games are far different than the second. I think it's a damn shame that they decided to switch everything up. Accept my opinion as my opinion.
3) So, you tell me that you clean up paper with your goat then? Sorry, but I don't. You know what DOES make some sence? The vacume, the Paper Clip, or the loving Stapler. A goat is not paper releated.

mr nobody, stop complaining. i am at bowser's snow fort now and i have had litterally zero trouble guessing what sticker to use, i only messed up one time with the desert gate, i didn't see i was supposed to place a poison mushroom sticker instead of a normal mushroom sticker. yes they changed the gameplay mechanics a bit and they strayed a little too far from the original series, but that's no reason to hate a game. i am at the end of world 4 now and the only level i've had tons of trouble with is the enigmansion. either you just suck at this game a lot or i'm just really smart, and it's probably not the latter.

Goats are reputed to be willing to eat almost anything, including tin cans and cardboard boxes. While goats will not actually eat inedible material, they are browsing animals, not grazers like cattle and sheep, and (coupled with their natural curiosity) will chew on and taste just about anything resembling plant matter to decide whether it is good to eat, including cardboard and paper labels from tin cans.

If you stand next to a goat it'll eat your coat too.

So stop telling the people who have been making the games for ~15 years what they can do with their own games.

May I please ask what prompted you to use the sponge sticker on the poison Blooper in world 3? I died to it five times before Curtsi gave me the hint: "You need to find a way to deflect the poison!" Are you serious that using a sponge to "deflect" poison felt in any way right to you?

Also, I can complain about something that I find bad. You don't have to read it, or listen to it, but I have all the right to state it. Especially in my own damned topic.

So stop telling the people who have been making the games for ~15 years what they can do with their own games.
Yes, I'm quite aware that goats are willing to eat anything, BUT, there are PLENTY of other paper related items that would make more sense than a goat. The three I listed were ones I had at the time, tried to use fully expecting them to work, and then had them fall off the screen.

I can voice my opinion on a game all I damn well please. I understand that they wanted to do something unique, but what really set me off is that they advertised this game as a direct sequel to TTYD promising a return of the original mechanics. It wasn't what I was lead to believe it was.
Opinions =\= Direct Order
I don't like the game, and I explained why I don't like the game. Not you, not anyone else. Just why I don't.

Now to be honest, the only two places where sticker placement stopped me for a good while was the goat to clean up the papers, and the sponge to beat the Blooper. After that, I was mortified to use any more item stickers.
I admit, the only bullstuff sticker moments were near the center of the game. Hell, after the Giant Cheep Cheep you don't need any specific stickers to beat any boss/miniboss. Way to be consistent game.

If you don't like my opinion, don't comment on it or just don't post. This is not a debate.

um yeah bud you kinda nullified that rule with the bigass rant you got going on here

Tanabe: Aside from wanting us to change the atmosphere a lot, there were two main things that Miyamoto-san said from the start of the project—”It’s fine without a story, so do we really need one?” and “As much as possible, complete it with only characters from the Super Mario world.

Iwata: That’s a difficult task. In some ways that would be the exact opposite direction from recent games in the series.

Tanabe: Yeah. With regard to the story, we did a survey over the Super Paper Mario game in Club Nintendo, and not even 1% said the story was interesting. A lot of people said that the Flip move for switching between the 3D and 2D dimensions was fun.

Kudo: I originally saw it in a way that's similar to Miyamoto-san. Personally I think all we need is to have an objective to win the boss battle at the end of the game. I didn't think we necessarily needed a lengthy story like in an RPG. Instead, we looked at the characteristics of a portable game that can be played little by little in small pieces and packed in lots of little episodes and ideas. I always did like putting in little ideas, so I actually enjoyed it.
