You're not going to get a decent pre-built for gaming in the <£400 range, your mother is an idiot

Yeah but its not like he has a choice in the matter. The best we can do is to help and give him the best suggestions for a prebuilt.

Lets not pull the same thing he does in a laptop thread. If he need s prebuilt, suggest or help out with prebuilts, don't suggest building your own.

She just doesn't know a single thing about computers.
Atleast I can try to get a great gaming PC in a >500 range.

EDIT: this thing can run bf4 on ~50FPS on max settings.
I think I am going to buy that one.

not exactly computer related but can someone suggest a decent pair of speakers for my computer? probably $50 max

can this board overclock the G3258?

well what do you want to bump it up to. can your cooling system handle it?
also yeah it should overclock fine. a lot of cheap motherboards can overclock with no problem. all this "don't overclock on a cheap motherboard" talk is just a "better safe than sorry" talk

My dad and I are thinking of building a computer that would be hooked up to our living room TV and work as a DVR/movie storage/super cool place to play video games on a TV. Would this build work for that? I don't know anything about anything.

Well... You certainly dinner need 16 GB of ram.

If you don't know anything about building, its best to do your research first, and lots of it.

That video card is not needed, its best to go for something a little better and get less ram. 16 gb is not needed, especially for a a simple entertainment system.

You did ok though by going for Mini ITX since it fits the Entertainment center look.

Dont know how much you are willing to spend, but if you are willing to spend more, id say go for intel, but other people could give a lot more infor on whats better.

Should I choose a motherboard that holds 16gb rather than 32 and switch to 4gb cards? And what should I change with the video card? Price should be $700 or less. The less the better.

A media center PC only needs about a $400 budget.

Great build for video streaming, playing DVD's (or Blu-rays, if you invest the extra $30 for the reader), even most games on low to medium settings.
