i think its incredibly stupid to buy a lower wattage psu, and then a higher wattage psu. you're just wasting money like that
alright, I guess I'll get the 800w then. Will the xfx one you just linked fit in a Fractal Design Define R4? If not I'll just save for this corsair one:

Will a single gtx 780 ti be able to run blockland with everything on max like shaders along with ports soft shadows on high brick counts with like 30 - 60fps? I know I've asked this question a million times (sorry) but I'll do my best on remembering the answer this time. :p

Meant to ask this but I forgot, will a couple of Corsair SP120 high performance fans take a lot of power?

yes, pretty much all PSU's are the same size/form factor

fans take next to no power

yes, pretty much all PSU's are the same size/form factor
Awesome so I now know non of my parts will be incompatible with my case. :)

yes
Awesome, with this much power I may not even need sli, lol. i'll still do sli though.

fans take next to no power
Excellent, since I was starting to worry about that lol.

anyways thanks for the help. :)

I would but I don't want to re install my OS. I'll get the other PC(it was made for windows 98) up  and running some time and install Linux on it
You don't even need to install it, run it off a Live CD.
You also said you didn't have another computer. Please refrain from posting incorrectly in the future.
Than how would I test it with Linux? (implying that I didn't have another computer to install it on)
And don't say duel boot, I'd rather not mess with that.
Live CD. If you had Linux before (you probably didn't,) you should know this.
You do this every loving time.
You ask for help on doing something and then instantly cut yourself off from a solution you know of for no loving reason at all. Either stop being such a twat or just let us tell you what you should do, it's a wonder that anyone still bothers to respond to your issues in this thread
^^^
I did some more looking into it, turns out my registry got forgeted up

I got that while installing a driver I got off of the internet, I used the browse option when installing a driver.
Can't see the image, stop using imageshack you forgetwads. used a proxy and it comes up fine
Selecting to find a driver isn't the improper way to install it, it's the complete opposite.
I also would have assumed device manager wouldn't display anything about the device from you saying "the computer doesn't recognize it anymore," but serves me right for believing anyone who has problems knows what they're doing and can describe the problem well enough for me to help them solve it.

the video card will bottleneck the setup, but the setup will not bottleneck the video card

will it? the cpu and ram amount seem fine for a 760.

can someone recommend me some servers? they need to have 500GB space each, 4GB of RAM and a decent processor. I need to order quite a few so I'm counting on them not being extremely expensive.
bump.

I have a fun challenge/chore for someone to do. I'm saving up a lot of money to "intellegently invest" into a hot rod of a rig. However I'm an idiot, and I dont know how to build the best rig for the money I'm spending.

Well then? What could the budget possibly be? Thanks for asking me;

My top budget limit is $3000 CND.
Not USD, at these high prices, my money is worth way less lol.

I do have some odd limitations though.

-Must ship to Canada.
-Must be prebuilt.

Now for the prebuilt thing, I moreso mean off those websites where you select your components, and they build it for you. I dont care if I pay extra, I want the forgeter slathered in warranties.
-Uses liquid cooling for major components
-Uses a dual GPU setup
(Unless there is a better setup using a single card.
-Does not have a massively large secondary SSD. (about 100gb or so will do)

Now the SSD rule can be broken if there is a lot of extra dosh lying around, but yeah. Pretty much, make me the fanciest rig possible for that amount of money. Something thatll last a while.

Have fun with 3000 bucks of canadian money, any effort towards this little post would go greatly appreciated.

I got excited but then I saw CND
:(

2735.48 united states money go nuts :P

Also the gtx 750 ti was released today & I think the titan black was released too.

will it? the cpu and ram amount seem fine for a 760.
you just got the terms mixed up, haha
when you ask if the gpu will bottleneck the setup, you're asking if the video card will hold the system back, in this case yes
but the correct term would be if the system will bottleneck the video card, other way around. in this case, no, the cpu and ram are totally fine and won't hold the performance of the video card back
Also the gtx 750 ti was released today & I think the titan black was released too.
I see 0 reason for someone to get a titan black over a 780 ti. same gaming performance (cuda cores) except 3gb more gddr5 and some increased computational performance which won't impact anything besides some heavy-duty calculating or somethin

looking for some opinions:

would a 770 be a good upgrade from a 580? running an overclocked i7-2600k so CPU bottleneck should not be an issue.

I have 2 monitors, gaming monitor is 1080p 60hz, secondary is ~720p 60hz. all I want is steady 60fps in today's games on ultra but my 580 just doesn't do it anymore.
