it would be better in the long run to just get a new motherboard and processor.

would a g3258 be better? i don't plan on overclocking, so keep that in mind.

Download speccy, run it, look at RAM; does it say DDR2 or DDR3?

Edit; Looked it up, Your laptop supports ONE stick of DDR3 memory up to 1600MHz in capacities of 2GB, 4GB and 8GB. You will want to get a DDR3 SODIMM in that speed and one of those capacities
Alright, neat.

How does this look?

3 GB of RAM is good enough for 64-bit

if you hate yourself, maybe. i struggled with only 4GB

haven't been seeing any performance issues.

Yeah, it doesn't cost more than a locked Pentium, comes with a better cooler and you can always overclock in the future if you change your mind. You'll probably want some new RAM, though, since the sticks you have are rather small and most cheap motherboards only have two memory slots.
Here you go, added a power supply too, just in case: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Chipskate/saved/#view=rXvQzy

i put a 600 watt in a month ago incase i needed room for upgrade

Alright, neat.

How does this look?

Yeah that's good. It's worth noting that you probably won't be noticing any increase in performance over 8gb of 1333 RAM unless you game with integrated graphics though.

It is integrated I believe

In that case, higher clock memory==better Vram.

Alright, neat.

Solid choice.

Thanks a lot guys, Ill let y'all know how it turns out and stuff

My GPU fans are really, REALLY loud. Anything I can do to fix this?

You should really try for dual channel memory whenever possible.
